I'm a fan of the second one because it is aligned to the very left, but a divider of some sort would be nice

All up to you Cap!

I thought about doing that. But I have to figure out how to make it look nice with the grippers for the unlocked taskbar.

This startbutton doesn't look nice at all, does it?

That could work out really well I think. Mess around with the colours a little more, I like the idea, but something about the current gradient colours is a little off.

Gradient colors from the startbutton you mean? I did the blue tint on purpose so that it looks shiny and make it look like it's reflecting a bit of the frame colors. Making it fully green didn't look as nice IMO, as you can see in this screenshot:

It can't have a stronger shadow under it because then it'll look out of place. The shadows on the frame should look similar to each other. The text almost has the same color blue as the Windows flag. I tried a brighter one but it didn't look nice IMO. It becomes a lot brighter when it's hovered.

@Krokus: I started that start button yesterday so I don't know yet.

The people that like the startbutton with the orange sides, do they also like the green version? Here's a more up-to-date version:

I'd prefer it if you removed the blue and orange colours from the left of the button, so it starts at themost left part of the screen, just like the "plain blue" version.
