It is a shame you guys follow stereotypes about Turkish people. We don't belong to Europe, we are rude, we are ignorant etc. Besides that, you still have a pretty obvious prejudice about the football team. If another small country in Europe was in this position, you'd be crazy about rooting them. We may be lucky but these balls didn't go behind the goal on their own. We probably have the most struggler players in this competition because of lack of physical power and abilities. On the other hand, with this faith, I believe it is possible us to beat Germany.

Yeah, it may have been luck, the others may have made unbelievable mistakes but Turkey is giving one heck of an enjoyable time in this tournament along with Holland and Germany.

Yes, and there are other teams :p .

Never. Turkey only from what i've read

Luck, or lack of it, is a component of football. Have you been following the turks?

No, I don't watch much football at all, although I do follow what is happening.

No no, you're absolutely wrong. None of the posts here said anything stereotypical about Turkish people. It's merely against Alfista and his arrogant comments. One individual, not an entire nation.

Turkey is giving one heck of an enjoyable time in this tournament along with Holland and Germany.

How much time, do you think? 5, 6 minutes? :p

No, I disagree with you again, Turkey is NOT giving one heck of an enjoyable time. Do you call enjoyable a game that for almost two hours felt like it was going nowhere, when the players don't have the will to go forward and instead just wait to go into compensation time? Sorry, that's not my idea of a good time.

I don't think any of us said anything about the country or the people itself. I've been to Turkey and enjoyed my time there, visiting the Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. I feel that the country is beautiful and the people are heart warming, especially my tour guide, who was a student and was especially a laugh to have around!

But I think the Turkish football team has advanced mostly on luck and pure team spirit. I'm not saying they don't deserve to be in the semi final, but I am being realistic. Both Germany and Turkey will have a 50-50 chance at going to the final, despite the injuries and suspensions Turkey have encountered. But the odds are now more heavily stacked against them to repeat their miracles as it is.

@miguel Coming back and winning two games and getting a draw to penalty shootouts is pretty extraordinary for European football. I'm pretty sure many people are just amused.

Maybe it's only me but European people don't like us much, do they? :p

That's because half of you want to be in Europe while the other half want to be in Asia, it's your fault for that, for the most part :p .

Saw this on BBC Forums: "Just seen on the UEFA website that to save time, the Germany v Turkey semi will be two minutes long, including six substitutions." :D

That was also a point I would like to bring up, hence my 5-6 minute question. That "enjoyable time", just a few minutes before the end of the games, is such a small fraction of the entire time Turkey played that it almost comes down to, what, 5%?

Really, has anyone tried summing up and figuring out the real percentage?

Three group games plus one quarter final, that's 90+90+90+120+10(?) minutes with the penalties. That's 400 minutes. How much time, out of those 400 minutes, do you think was "enjoyable"?

It's a real question, I would really like to know your answer.

Then divide by 400 and then multiply by 100, and you'll have the percentage of "enjoyable" time Turkey has presented this Euro 2008. Surely will come to some really small number.

Maybe it's only me but European people don't like us much, do they? :p

I can only speak for myself and probably the portuguese mentality, but Turkey is like any other country for us. No prejudice here... (well, apart from that Alfista character :p )

I frankly enjoyed every minute Turkey attacked because it's my country. Czech match was unbelievable in last 20 minutes and we were swearing till the end of Swiss. Today when we said we lost, Semih the lifeguard-as people call-(he is a sub in Fenerbah?e but he became the top goalscorer this season, also scored in 90th minute against Sevilla) we went crazy. It was hell of a moment. Football is one of the rare things people care much about in Turkey and we need that cup more than any team in Euro 2008.

Total of 30 minutes, but 30 minutes which probably many of us won't see in many years.

Total of 30 minutes, but 30 minutes which probably many of us won't see in many years.

OK, (30 / 400) x 100 = 7,5% of enjoyable time. Pretty low for any team, don't you think?

By the way, this statistics reminded me of something I was wondering: how the hell do the TV channels know how much distance did the players ran on the field??... Because once in a while appears something like "Player xyz - 6.75 km"... How do they do that??

Wow, I got to hand it to Turkey. Never imagined they'd win against Croatia.

Although Croatia had more chances, Turkey managed to do well and put some pressure on the Croatian team.

When Croatia scored in the last minute I left the room but then Turkey scored on overtime! Unbelievable!

The Turkish games are giving me heartattacks :p

It's great to see that they didn't surrender but kept going. It has certainly proven to be worth it. (Y)

Too bad Tuncay and Arda are gonna miss the next game, they are the foundation of the team. Also Nihat might not play because of injury :(

I hope they do well against Germany, but think this is as far as they go.

Now lets just wait for Alfista to return from the partying and begin the flame war :fun:

Sorry, Alfista can't come to the forum at the moment, he's busy

Sorry guys pic unavailable

Nobody hates Turkey as a whole. We just hate how Alfista puts his two cents in and has to be a little c word about it. If you are a Turkish fan and think they won purely by skill and no luck you are absolutely the most arrogant person on this planet.

The amount of discrepancy's that have been in favor of turkey are utterly ridiculous.

Edit: lol @ that pic, im sure metallithrax didn't mean to post some tranny dude, its simply a place holder for some 3rd party linkage hahahahahahhaha

Nice image there

Like I mentioned before, I always liked Turkey as a team until Alfista came along. Nonetheless, I will be rooting for the Turks against Germany (love the underdogs) but Turkey's chances are slim with all the suspensions and injuries of their most important starters.

I think you will be hard pressed to go back through these pages and find stereotyping comments about the Turkish people. I think in the same vein as I, when I say that the only thing we have against Turkey is Alfista. Love for ones country and team is great; but don't sit and say absolute rubbish comments because of it. Especially when he tries to swear they are facts, not his opinion. If it wasn't for the stupidity exhibited by Alfista, I would probably be happy to see the way the team has succeeded.

Now its onto tomorrow's game.

I expect a very open match tomorrow between both teams. After watching Russia play their last two games, I am confident they will put up a good fight and make it a great match.

I have no favorites for that match but I am leaning towards Russia.

ok.......

WHERE DO I BEGIN?

first of all i am so drunk and happy that i can not describe. I want to make a small recap of the last 40 pages as pretty much 99% of neowinians with their "incredible football knowledge" said

hahahah swiss will kick turkey's ass

hahahahaha czech republic will destroy turkey

hahahahahaha croatia will demolish turkey.

and what did i say? turkey will WIN. because I KNOW football. and i KNOW that my team always plays its bet untill the very last second. there is never giving up and this mentality will make us the euro 2008 champion. I am so glad most of you are now saying that turkey has missing players and germany will beat us.. well guess what i will say after that game as well..

hahahahaha turkey destroyed germany.

mark my words and mark my words well. Turkey is one of the top 4 teams in europe. this competition is there to find the best team in europe.

We are better than england, portugal, france, croatia, czech republic, sweeden and you name it. But we will not be satisfied with semi finals. Holland vs Turkey is the name of the final.

last few pages showed me the fear you guys had after turkey's victory. ok because of that fear i feel pity for most of you whom throughout the competition said the opposite wrong things, i will not speak so arrogant now. maybe tomorrow when i am sober

i just earned over 1000 dollars on the turkey game tonight. i had put 300 bucks and getting richer by the minute. when i told you about the bet everyone pretty much just laughed. ADMIT IT.

I am so happy right now that i do not want to deal with some of you directly but you guys know yourselves. I was so sure that turkey would win and therefore i said if turkey lost to croatia, i would go hungry in front of the croatian embassy. some of you even made that word his signature.

Where are you my friend?

ahhh and also some other people whom believed turkey should not even qualify for these finals, are switching sides and rooting for Turkey.

I swear to god besides german people. 95% the other nations will be supporting turkey because of the bravery and never giving up spirit.

Switzerland 1-1... 92nd minute 2-1 for turkey

Czech republic 0-2 in the 75th minute. full time 3-2 for turkey

croatia 0-1 in the 119th minute and 1-1- in the 121th minute. and a penalty kick victory

trust me. the WORLD is supporting turkey right now. so get in the program :)

one last thing. uefa gives rules to the refrees. for example in each game at least 4 mins addded to the 90th minute. because UEFA tells refrees to do so. even though there might not be injuries in the game but refree would still ad 4 mins.

same thing goes with extra time 2nd half which is the 4th half really.

Refrees are also told by uefa to put extra mins in that extra time as well. regardless if there were injuries or not.

Anyway.

I LOVE you neowinians. we might disagree and you might laugh at Turkey. but i love everyone in this forum.

ohhh and also.. if you cant stand my exact and great football knowledge. check the forum. EVERYTHING i said about this tournament happened. Turkey's victories to Ronaldo not being a great player... and if you still disagree and think i am rubbish even after this moment (because some of you are not brave enough to admit mistakes) i would love to tell you a story about my feelings towards some people and a rat's butt.

Congrats, Alfista. I know for a fact you were distraught when Croatia scored that goal (Don't lie). All the Turkish fans were until you tied it up.

Wish you the best against Germany and I sure hope you guys make it through with your 11 or 12 players remaining.

thats noble of you and thank you. to be honest i was at friend's house with my girlfriend. after the goal at 119th minute i packed my stuff up and was saying goodbye to the household and was going towards my car to go to a night club where all of a sudden the world changed 2 mins later.

this was more special than czech republic game.

Turkey's way of football is different. remember how croatia played fast against every other team but not towards turkey because we locked many of their players. though they still managed to find positions.

same think will happen against germany too.

do not expect a fast paced game like germany vs poland or germany vs portugal.

that game will be similar to turkey vs croatia game.

Also we just have Mehmet Topal, Arda and Tuncay as suspended. Aurelio will return from suspension and our injured defender Servet will also play against germany. I am also sure nihat will play as well. Our back up is also good. Gokdeniz and Tumer should take places of A.da and Tuncay where as Aurelio will take place of Mehmet Topal. No biggie really.

just dissapointed that we wont watch arda's incredible talents. thats all. the gameplay will still be the same?

cheers.
