Finding WEP key on vista?

Recommended Posts

Hmm, he's not cracking any passwords, he just want to see saved passwords... I mean, he's running it on his own computer to look at his own network's password. What does any of this have to do with wireless cards and yadda yadda, it's just keys saved in Windows by the WLAN Auto Config service.

That's all you need, a free utility that works out of box, just run the .exe file.

We don't know if its his or another persons.

I wasn't him who suggested cain, from what he was asking I have no reason to believe he's trying to do anything illegal, anyway I would suggest getting it from your router, find the model number, google it to find a users manual and that should tell you how to do it, otherwise you can access your router via web browser by going to 192.168.1.1 or 198.168.1.2 or something like that. If your using vista Click Start/network right click on router and select "view device webpage"

EDIT: Or just do what Jay R. says.

Why/How do you have a wireless network with WEP if you for one, dont know the WEP key and how to access it and two, can't download and use a simple application without step by step instructions?

What kind of router do you have? (Once you tell us we can tell you how to access the routers WEB UI and find the WEP key.)
