Pheee
I saw that as well. I think it's only in case they miss the Friday deadline, and are pushed back by the Weekend. Hopefully, anyway. I noticed this aswell, but looking at the courier, maybe its coming from outside UK... G3 WORLDWIDE NETHERLANDS BV Maybe thats why it takes a couple of days... blachole
My 2 copies still say "packaged for shipment", but my guess is they are going to magically show shipped sometime today. PNWDweller
Oftentimes I would see packages show as "ready for shipment" and then magically appear at the customer's doorstep later that day. Only when the carrier scans it as delivered and uploads the data to their central command center, will it show as being delivered. Some companies, don't scan their packages every step of the way sadly. PNWDweller
All I ask is for a GPS tracker on my parcel. Is that too much to ask :p ?UPS tells you where it is pretty much every hour. UPS is usually good about every hour status's but the situation goes back to the driver of said delivery truck. While there is GPS tracking on their trucks for internal use, I have yet to see a way to pinpoint a package with GPS in a public manner that is safe for not only the driver, but also the recipient. :) When I worked in shipping at one job, I saw where UPS would say "Billing information received" yet the item's were picked up and scanned at the warehouse hours ago. The next time it updated was when the driver went to the station and sent the delivery data to their master computer. Only then, would it show an origin scan. Hopefully Apple will use a trackable carrier with this for those who are wanting to track their shipment. As for me, I might just buy locally. rajputwarrior
same boat as you guys, prepared for shipment :( Does anyone know what's new in Boot Camp 3.0 if this is the one included in Snow Leopard? they have native HFS+ drivers so you can read your OSX drives in windows now :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/642366-mac-os-x-snow-leopard-discussion/page/52/#findComment-591499986 Share on other sites
Fid
Fingers crossed for mine to arrive tomorrow too, going back to Uni on Monday so will be a pain having to come home again to pick it up! I have a quick question regarding 64 Bit... that I've been reading and following on this thread, but I still don't understand it properly... so I'm going to keep it simple :p. If I read right... it's capable of running in 64 Bit mode (or whatever), but it doesn't by itself unless you force it. But applications are 64 Bit. Therefore, you should still see performance improvements with it running "normally"/32 bit. My quick questions are... is it worth forcing it to run in 64 Bit... and if so, are there any applications likely to cause problems? I only really run Apple software, Office 08 and WoW on my mid 09 MBP... but I don't think they're written in 64 bit... they should still work right? (Like you can install 32 bit apps in Windows and they work fine). It's all so confusing :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/642366-mac-os-x-snow-leopard-discussion/page/52/#findComment-591500102 Share on other sites
Elliott
they have native HFS+ drivers so you can read your OSX drives in windows now :) I keep forgetting about that. I think I might install Windows 7, just because it won't be completely isolated now so I could listen to my music and whatnot when I'm over there. .Neo
So guys, its confirmed that Quicktime X will not be release for Leopard and Windows? I will not be updating to SL anytime soon. Doubtful they're going to bring one of the few key features that will actually be noticed by the average user to Leopard. (Like you can install 32 bit apps in Windows and they work fine). It's all so confusing :D Ok the mach_kernel in SL is a HYBRID kernel allowing apps to run in 64bit even when the kernel itself is in 32bit mode. this means individual apps have all the benefits of being 64bit, they can access large amounts of memory do 64bit math calculations, all the same normal stuff you would expect in a 64bit app on a 64bit system. (Leopard has this ability aswel, the CHESS application runs in 64bit on 10.5 so does transmission 1.74) Here is a list of compatible apps including wether they work in 64bit kernel mode http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/ any app that uses kernel extensions (kext) for whatever reason, the kext has to match the kernel for the app to function, if the kext is 32bit the kernel has to be also for the app to function. thats why apple is encouraging devs to write 64bit kext's. SL being a hybrid OS is confusing for the average end user however it does make the "choice" and transition from 32bit to 64bit waaaaaaay easier. unlike windows when a user has 64bit system hardware and wants to run a 64bit OS they need to reinstall windows fresh and start all over, OS X SL can be switched back and forth at will without re-installing. Unrealistic
It's 10A432. Works for me then. Time to install all of my apps and go ahead and install/activate Windows 7 on it. I didn't feel like wasting an activation (nor my time) on something that wasn't the proper build. I hadn't installed Windows 7 yet for the sole reason that I planned on doing a wipe of my entire disk drive. It had Windows Vista Ultimate on it. And no not RC, I mean the RTM. I am on MSDN, so I can legally install it onto my machines. Either way, it hadn't been installed yet after upgrading to Snow Leopard:):) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/642366-mac-os-x-snow-leopard-discussion/page/52/#findComment-591502804 Share on other sites
