Uh huh  getting excited about the release. :jump:

Somehow I can't imagine if Microsoft could generate this sort of excitement with it's products.

I am a firefox fan, but to be fair Microsoft does generate this sort of excitement with Visual Studio releases [at least for me]... VS is one of the finest development tools there is!

That file is dated june 11th. I would expect a newer date.

like i say i dont think they would put a RC file in a 'releases' folder on there ftp site so that alone im pretty sure it's legit and im running the final of ff3 now and there's nothing in it to say it's a rc instead of a final.

plus that June 11th date sounds about right if you ask me cause they probably tested the RC2 which i think was around that time and it probably became the final code cause the file size of the RC2 is exact same as the final but in the final i dont see the RC2 listed on top of the browser anymore ;)

but it's your call, do as you please.

I installed that and the home page is telling me "thank you for testing RC3"

yeah cause they aint updated that to reflect the new stuff yet.... u still have the final version though ;)

goto google.com or something as you can see at top of the browser it's just like it is in a final version.

The digital signatures are the same as RC3, aren't they?

I installed that and the home page is telling me "thank you for testing RC3"

What version does it mention in Help-->About Mozilla Firefox?

Edit: Check this Softpedia link. It was written at 8:41 am GMT, about 2 hours ago. Now it's past 10 am GMT, so could they have uploaded it at 10 am GMT to the servers?

Edit2: Good thing I got the file (if it's the real thing); I'm trying to connect and I'm getting an error that there are too many users connected

Edit3: newbitmapimage2as0.jpg

Crikey... never known such excitement over a new version of something...

Everyone, STOP right there. The official "launch" of download day is 10 am PDT - that's PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME - and will be 6pm this evening in the UK. Or 5pm GMT. Don't download it yet, it won't count towards the final total. Regardless of if they've rolled the final version out to all mirrors, if you download it now you defeat the object of the world record attempt!

They didn't upload *anything* at 10am GMT, just because we're in the UK and use GMT 6 months out of 12, doesn't mean the whole world will automatically follow suit!

Just out of interest, and certinly not a flame...

Wht's the deal with wanting it on day 1? Won't the first release have quite a few bugs that will need ironing out?

It'll have bugs, as all software does, but I doubt Firefox 3.0 will have anything major prompting an immediate release of 3.0.0.1 or however they're gonna do things this time around.
