boogerjones
This thread is funny. All these people worried that they have a release candidate installed. For the last time: On windows and linux, RC2=RC3=Final On Mac, RC3=Final The SHA-1 hashes for the respective setup files are identical. velkymx
Just for all of you thinking Release Client - it is Release Candidate... meaning that it could just win the final build. redeemed
RC3=yesterday's version (from the ftp)=Final??? So why does the firefox homepage show FF 3.0 as 7.8 MB with the download being the same size as RC3 (7.14 MB)? Chode
I hope that they bother to strip out duplicate IP entries. That would definately decrease that number a lot! zerologic
I hope that they bother to strip out duplicate IP entries. That would definately decrease that number a lot! So if you have 5 computers at home and each computer downloads Firefox 3, it's inaccurate? Remember, they are all downloading through 1 IP.. Chode
I can't imagine that there would be a substantial number of instances of that. Firstly, the more logical approach is to download on one computer and then distribute. Secondly, even if your home network isn't hosting an internet proxy (for shame), then it is a good chance that your ISP will be hosting one so it will still only appear as a single download. What there would be MANY instances off are people scripting a mass-download of this to artificially inflate the number! arrrgh
What there would be MANY instances off are people scripting a mass-download of this to artificially inflate the number! And that matters because..? These are download numbers, not actual users or anything other useful. Download numbers are just a very nice way to show how huge Firefox community is and an excellent marketing stunt but nothing else. arrrgh
I can't really tell what's the difference between this and the last RC If you are on windows then RC2=RC3=Final. The last RC is always the same as release version.
