Googintosh
Why is my connection-specific DNS Suffix "f"? What does that mean? jayshaw
It's the zone used for local dns lookups. Yours is f i suppose. Mine is belkin, because its whats set on my belkin router. +BudMan MVC Posted June 18, 2008 MVC Share Posted June 18, 2008 Just change it to whatever you want. f does not sound like any type of default any router company would use, more of typo someone made more like it to me. Check the interface directly Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/643932-connection-specific-dns-suffix/#findComment-589492440 Share on other sites
Googintosh
The input box was blank in mine. I typed in a temporary name anyway and the name changed. I then removed the DNS suffix I had entered and my connection-specific DNS suffix defaulted back to "f". Googintosh
Hmm. I am using Tomato firmware, and I cannot find a Connection-specific DNS suffix setting anywhere. +BudMan MVC Posted June 19, 2008 MVC Share Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) It would not be called that -- it would be called your domain.. Not sure on tomato, but in dd-wrt its here. As to what it is -- um exactly what it says.. It's dns suffix for that specific connection, ie local.lan or .localdomain or example.com, etc.. etc. You can have them set on the specific connection, as well as your primary setting for your machine. But normally if you have only 1 interface you don't set it. Your dns suffix for your machine would be set at as the primary.
