Blue Dots all over Laptop Screen

The blue dots you can see over there flicker on and off on my screen. This problem started a while ago, after a hefty bout of Photoshop, which gave my laptop some trouble. Red dots started appearing over darker colours, like on the wallpaper in the image. I shut down my laptop and the problem went away. It only happened a couple more times after that.

Yet, this morning, after my laptop had been off for hours, the problem appeared straight away, in the form of blue dots. It also appeared on my boot screen. I'm about to go look for my Ubuntu Live CD to see if it happens there, too. Any ideas on what the deal is? I'm using an HP dv2753TX Special Edition laptop, bought about 2-3 months ago.

Thanks for any help :)

They're definitely not dead/stuck pixels if they show up on a screenshot.

bingo.

try changing your wallpaper, and if it still happens, try running without anything running

start > run > "msconfig" > startup > disable everything

How lately? I bought my laptop about 3 months ago. It was fine until my 100+ layer photoshop effort, heh. At first I just passed it off as heat, as it went away after a while, but yeah...now it shows up all the time.

EDIT: never overclocked my laptop. I was worried this morning as they showed up after my laptop had been off all night, over night.

They show up on my dark wallpapers. I get a few here on Neowin, a lot on Cairo's website, and before it even showed up whilst booting (just before I got to the Boot Screen).

How many times has it happened?

It must have been about 4-5 times, until this morning and last night. Now it just doesn't go away.

EDIT: Oh, so, the GPU is damaged? Damn. Well...at least my laptop's still under warranty :D I think I'll save my Photoshopping for my Desktop.

Ouch xD But yeh Audioboxer, it's a screenshot.

As the Vista desktop is being rendered by your GPU, if your graphics card is putting artifacts into the final rendered image, they will be captured by a screenshot, correct?

Switch to Aero Basic and see if the problem still occurs. This will disable the 3d desktop.

Good idea, good idea. I'll go switch it over now.

EDIT: Well my laptop has been idling for the past hour or so and the dots appear to be gone for the moment. I'm gunna go with the heat approach.
