See the Press Release HERE

(We still on the 10th, not 11th lol)

Other than the super sexy logo, what you think about this name?

(I repost it here now that it is official because I don't think the New Post is a good place to get long discussions as it will rapidly fall into oblivion in 24H and anyway, it belong to Hardware Hangout)

but it is here eleventh of august ;)

so in the end it turn out it is the true name

What happened to i1-i6 :p

E.O.L codes for ol' products  ;)

Your sig would look better with anti-aliased round edges, Nienor. Back on topic, anyway, I find Core i7 to be a very lame name, it has no punch, no meaning, no emotion, but at least it's not as confusing as Core 2 Duo. I can't count the number of times I had to explain the difference between a dual-core and a Core Duo. But it was a smart move because people would assume dual-core CPUs WERE Core 2 Duos and nothing else, just like most people assume Internet Explorer IS the Internet, just because it has Internet in the name.

Time for me to upgrade.

I'll buy your old stuff! ;)

Nah I dont like i7 , Core 3 would have been better and not confusing.

Possible that Apple demanded it or something? the i and all... and MS demanded the 7 :o

i for Apple , 7 for Microsoft

No, Intel's been using the "i" for years.
