MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC

Recommended Posts

Right,

I'm tired of trying every distro now to see if any support my laptop with power management...Each time I boot Ubuntu I get

MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC

Is their actually any "fixes" to get this working so I can see my battery level? I don't want to use "noapic" in the Grub menu. Everything is fine with the AC is plugged in but the GUI goes slow when on the battery?

hey tom

i have the averatec 6200 and am having the same problem with the noapic thing and ubuntu.

i know for sure that suse linux enterprise desktop 10 and turbo linux fuji work on these laptops. installation is a breeze with both and no noapic issues. seems to me that i also had red hat installed on the laptop too at one point and had no probs.

good luck

jw

p.s. have you found any fixes to the 8254 issue?
