idas
VISTA STYLE BUILDER [MADE by Andres V.] Features Create, Modify and Save Custom MsStyle files for Vista No more .mui files needed AutoFix Alpha Channels with PNGs Control all theme properties Make changes to the STREAM images like normal image edits Test your Visual Style with one Click Requirements and others VistaStyleBuilder will only run on Windows Vista MsStyles created with Vista Style Builder can only run on a Vista pc with theming enabled and with a so-called patched UxTheme file. Editing the ShellFile is not supported at the moment, this might come in a future release. Before Purchasing (License Agreement) Keys are only valid for ONE person: when a key is being shared between people or is available online, the key will be revoked and will no longer be valid to run VistaStyleBuilder. The payment made for the key will NOT be refunded. Any possible damages that might occur from running VistaStyleBuilder, including loss of work due to crashes, cannot be claimed on the author. In other words: you run this software completely on own risk. There is no support given on VistaStyleBuilder, apart from solving bugs. Problems or "How do I do"-questions regarding Visual Styles are not answered. A featue of Visual Style Builder that has been secret until now is the ability to Import XP MsStyles. That’s right, VSB makes it possible to use your favorite XP Styles on Vista! Most XP Styles only need some small modifications after importing to work correctly on Vista . Yes because shareware or trialware stinks and everything should be freeware! Right?....but then again, you have no choice but to pay for this one. Skulltrail-old
I absolutely love this. Especially the name, "AveStyle" (perhaps derived from AveDesk) Curious though if there is the ability to edit Msstyle files, or can you only create them? And if you can edit them, which files? One created by AveStyle or any msstyle? I ask because I've seen some really good visual styles in my day and can't seem to enjoy them for one or two reasons (bugs, ugly features) and would like to "fix" them. Personally, if I wanted to change Vista's look (which I wouldn't, because I think it's fine) then I would buy Stardocks bundle. I just think he's ****ing in the wind if he thinks he's going to be earning off this project. That's a very extreme and, in my opinion, stupid attitude. Waht logic exactly are you using for those comments? Anyway I for one have been waiting for something like this to come out and have just now bought a copy. Denis W. Veteran Posted October 19, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 19, 2008 ^^ Excuse me? A) There's no other program like this out there for Vista visual styles - except for Stardock's SkinStudio which is a good product, but for WB skins only B) Ask any VS creator right now how much of a pain in the ass it is to manually use resource hackers and dealing with broken PNGs when going between 32 and 64-bit C) This was in development for months The author's made a good deal of cool Vista gadgets for free and posted them in this forum. You don't *need* this program to use other VSes... but if you want to save yourselves headaches while designing them, then support this guy. Plus its spiritual predecessor (well sort of), StyleBuilder for XP, wasn't free either. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/684548-vista-style-builder-released/#findComment-589992516 Share on other sites
tom01
So? Msn Messenger was the only program that could connect to the Msn network and it took years of development so that means people should have to buy it? No, because it wouldn't of sold. if people had to buy Msn then it wouldn't of been the Msn we know. Either way, I don't care. Go play with your Reshacker on steriods  I'll keep my ?16.50 thank you very much. -KJ
It's neat, but no trial? Really? If anyone buys this (€16.50), please tell us about it. I'm not ready to splurge that amount of money on something that I have never used. He also explicitly states that he won't answer any questions unless it deals with bugs... -KJ
I took the plunge and purchased a copy. Working very well so far. You can preview the style on the fly, and a menu with all the meters, sliders, checkboxes, radio buttons, etc. pops up so you don't have to hunt for those elements on your own. Very cool feature. This really streamlines the process :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/684548-vista-style-builder-released/#findComment-589993714 Share on other sites
