The Dark Knight
Is it possible for regular Connect members to invite other members for beta programmes? Because I want to get into this beta badly, and have been a member of Connect for ages, but I didn't get any invite! Robbie Ride
Erm, that'll be a no, sadly, it took me a while to get selected to test most/all Microsoft products, but there is currently no way to invite other Microsoft Connect members to test products. The beta process for testing Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista & Windows Server 2008 seems to be broad but limited, there for i can't see Microsoft expanding the program at the moment. Further to what i said before, being selected for Microsoft beta's is down to a few factors, a couple i can list are regulary submit bug reports, complete relevent survey's on time. Be patient Microsoft have limited opening and only a select few get chosen. Typhoeus
Hay. I'm using x64 Vista. Is there anybody know direct download links for Vista SP2 Build 16497 for x64 (KB948465)? My internet connectivity here is horrible, always disconnected and all (I always need to hit the 'try again' button to resume download via Windows Update). By having the direct link, I can use download manager to download the update, and apply the update manually. Which is obviously very practical for narrowband user. Lawl. azz0r_wugg
They mentioned that DWM uses 50% less ram in Windows 7. I'm hoping that gets backported. George P Global Moderator Posted November 3, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted November 3, 2008 SP2 should give everyone a performance boost, but not anything like how Win7 is looking resource wise. They've put alot of work into 7 to get it to run on netbooks as well. It's a new and growing market MS wants to get into. We should all be happy someone out there decided to make and sell cheap netbooks without loads of RAM and super fast multicore CPUs like high end notebooks have. This is why MS is really putting alot of effort into making Win7 lighter. Johnnychangs
you just have to uninstall the old one first This works, installing 16497 right now. 1) Uninstall prior SP2 2) Reboot 3) Open Windows Update, click Check for Updates 4) Install Vista SP2 Servicing Stack Update Build xxxx 5) Click Check for Updates (on the left column...you must click this, no need to install the minor update that pops up after step 4) 6) Vista SP2 update should appear (big one 400+ MB) 7) Install 8) Reboot Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/689236-windows-vista-sp2-beta-v6002-16497-has-been-released/page/2/#findComment-590068976 Share on other sites
