arrrgh
The Steam patch seems to be corrupted/broken, after the update the game crashes at startup. Manually patching the game fixed the crash. AgEnTsMiTh
So, is this worth playing now with the fixes? I have a GTX295 and I do not want to purchase a game that is riddled with issues still. I have a GTX295 and I do not want to purchase a game that is riddled with issues still. With hardware like that, I'd say it's worth it. I assume you have a high end quad-core CPU to complement that beast of a video card. Suffices to say, the game will run quite smoothly. Lyric
Interesting. Can someone with the game tell us how much this all helps out? Thanks. I play the game, but I'm not yet available to test it out since I've downloaded & applied it because I am doing a 24hr fold-a-thon for another forum I am on, I'll be able to test it out tomorrow and will report back as well. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/690176-gta-iv-for-pc-official/page/36/#findComment-590742188 Share on other sites
dead.cell
Thanks. Looking forward to it. Was put off originally simply due to the number of people reporting how buggy the game was. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted March 22, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 22, 2009 Patch updates are usually posted in the official GTA IV (PC) thread here. It'd be the best place to check for user impressions of the patch. Thanks for the heads up though. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/690176-gta-iv-for-pc-official/page/36/#findComment-590742210 Share on other sites

Thirtythree
Who would play this with a X1900 series card? I had one and gave it to my daughter. I doubt it could handle this game at high settings at all. _dandy_
Bought the game in December, installed it, graphics consistently get corrupted within 2-3 minutes (missing roads, buildings, etc...) Installed the first patch, no help. I'm hoping this'll take care of that problem. If not, I guess it'll keep collecting dust until I replace my system (Athlon X2 4800, 2GB RAM, 8800GTS w/320MB)...in the meantime I've certainly lost all interest in the game... StealMySoda
Just installed the patch to see what sort of performance boosts I get. Ran outside. Started driving...then realized my car was going way too fast and the game felt like it was going in 1.5x speed. I know this was an issue with the initial release so I change the game down to 3 cores, felt a bit better, but not perfect. Hasn't really changed much else. Game runs 'fine' for me, but still not like one would expect. I doubt it could handle this game at high settings at all. People that don't have money or incentive to upgrade. It's a decent video card but it's definitely not good enough for GTA IV. I have an HD 4870 and it's playable, but barely enjoyable. You'll need a Core i7 gaming rig coupled with a very high end CrossFire or SLI configuration to run the game (maxed out) at 60 FPS.
