I hope they don't release it yet. It's way too slow. Opening tabs is a PITA. It crashes a lot. Plus I'd never use Facebook on IE 8! It's too freaking slow!

One would think they have worked on the problems you mentioned since beta 2.

Do you honestly think the entire IE team has not been working on the development since the release of the beta 2 and that the builds now will be hugely changed from what we have. (a 3 month old beta) or have the IE team been on a long holiday?

Yea I'd rather think they have been on a long holiday.. the Facebook slowness issue has been there since IE 7.

Facebook isn't slow for me on IE7. I am using IE7Pro as well if that makes any difference.

It's official now. The final build of Windows Internet Explorer 8 will not be released until 2009:

I think this is good because hopefully it gives them chance to iron out the Trident engine and standards compliance mode to make it more effective. If the website I am creating currently works as it should in Internet Explorer 8, I will be impressed. I refuse to waste the time recoding my website to allow it to display correctly in Internet Explorer 7 because I shouldn't have to. If Microsoft cannot make a web browser that actually works then they should admit defeat and quit.

I still don't see why they can't admit that Trident is no-where near as effective as WebKit or Gecko and that they should use one of those two in Internet Explorer. Again, this is Microsoft thinking they are the best software developing company around. Well, not being able to create a web browser that actually works makes me think they are far from the best software developing company out there.
