Fix missing RunAs in Vista

Recommended Posts

Some people may be missing the "RunAs" command when right-clicking a file in Vista. To (partially) "fix" this, try this:

  1. Open regedit
  2. Navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
  3. Change ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin's DWORD value to 1 (0x00000001)
  4. Close regedit

Now, when you right-click a file and click "Run As Administrator," it will force you to enter the password for any computer administrator instead of automatically running as the current administrator.
