john johnson
I don't think I'll like it, but I'll check out one ep anyway. :p Any one here reading Billy Bat, by the way?

Matrix XII
Whoa that sounds interesting. Good fighting scenes for anyone who's watched it? Is this a new show because I haven't heard anything about it...
RadishTM Veteran Posted April 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted April 28, 2010 Yep, it's a new show that started this month. There are decent fighting scenes (these are fluid with detail to match) which are balanced with funny humour from all the quirky characters (Y) :D If you've seen Air, Clannad or Kanon - the animation/character designs will look similar. deletedxyz
I picked up Sora no Woto since it was highly praised here on this forum... The story is of a girl, whose acts and makes facial expressions similar to animals in classic Disney movies, and her day to day activities in a remote town. I didn't know fellow Neowin members really like the fairy tale type of stories here. This story is not at all what I expected. It's a rekindling of a fairy tale that one would read in a children's book that starts off each sentence with an engraved letter. 6/10 (dropped) It's very similar to other anime series I dropped and did not find any appeal watching, such as K-ON! and Tora Dora. Don't you guys too old for this stuff? :/ ____________ I tried to watch Kimi no Todoke. I can't do it. It's a boring show. It's a puppy love story of a young girl in high school and the events that surround her annoying shy behavior. She is probably the ultimate image of a completely naive, sheltered girl who is as fragile as glass. It's Honey and Clover reinvented into a Shoujo series. The voice actor sounds like she's being forced against her will to play the main female lead. 6/10 (dropped)
RadishTM Veteran Posted April 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted April 28, 2010 Seems anime is srs bsns for you, Masked Forever ;) Watched the special episode of Nodame Cantabile Finale. I totally forgot how awesome Masami, Mine, and Nodame when they are together as a group and seeing the original faces popping up was nice (Y) Mine's use of French and not knowing his way around Paris was funny :p The bed scene with Mine/Nodame acting out as a married couple was hilarious (they make a great comedy duo! ) while Chiaki was just around the corner  I LOL'ed when Nodame suggested to Chiaki that he likes melon boobs (then getting smacked down) and her conducting with cutlery, mimicking Chiaki to everyone's amazement  ^ Those two are inseparable :D Classic Nodame at her best and a really heart-warming episode with Kiyora/Mine :)

Lingwo
I just went to pick up some new football boots and instead came back with Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex & 2nd GIG boxsets  Got some fun evenings ahead of me. I wanted Fullmetal Alchemist boxset but they only had the second half of the series.

Out the two, my favourite is SAC (or 1st GIG) :)

Jamushroom Veteran Posted April 28, 2010 Veteran Share Posted April 28, 2010 The latest episode of FMA:B was pretty awesome. It was sad though to see Envy realizing he was actually jealous of humans. Also, seeing Hohenheim walking towards Homunculus with the ED in the background was a nice touch. The next episode is bound to get interesting with the both of them finally meeting up. I totally forgot how awesome Masami, Mine, and Nodame when they are together as a group and seeing the original faces popping up was nice (Y) I guess it is some serious business. I remember those scenes from the manga. I will check both Paris-hen and this chapter out. The one volume sequel to Nodame is almost fully translated. "A one volume sequel of the Nodame Cantabile series. Chiaki and Nodame are back in Japan, Nodame for her first recital there, and Chiaki for his first Opera Concerto." Don't you guys too old for this stuff? :/ I accidentally forgot a word. :p

deletedxyz
@sanctified Check these out. They might be up your alley. This Ugly Yet Beautiful World Sola Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu (very depressing and very similar to Saikano. It was a mistake to watch this and Saikano back to back!) I didn't particulary enjoy them that much because of the drama but they were unique anime and quite depressing.

CentralDogma
How about another review. Casshern Sins Status: Finished The Plot: ?A revamp of the classic anime series, the world is plagued by a decay of all life both natural and robotic. The light of the world, it's sun called the moon, Luna, was kill by the cyborg Casshern; bringing with him the end of the world called the Ruin.? This anime is on the depressing side. It deals with the concept of death, and the way that people (and robots) deal with their mortality. There are a few moments of in it that got me choked up a bit, but it wasn?t as emotional as some might expect. IMO, the plot fell short. It felt like the story took a few episodes to really take off, and petered out before the end. After it was over, I felt like I had more questions about it than when I started (though I didn?t know what those questions were). Because it was a reimagining of the original Casshern, I felt like I might be missing some things that viewers of the original might have remembered. Overall:4/

deletedxyz
@CentralDogma If you like philosophy with mature themes in anime, then check out Ghost in the Shell, Texhnolyze and Ergo Proxy. Transcendentilism, existentialism and nihilism.
Matrix XII
@CentralDogma Thanks for the review. Wasn't there a movie out called Casshern? I think I saw it once, but I couldn't really understand it.. I'm pretty sure it was Japanese, but it was a while ago since I've seen it.
Kondrath
Thanks to the person who recommended Kodocha a few pages back. It's not quite a "mature version of School Rumble" like you said, but it's okay. Not my favorite show, but I'll keep watching. On episode 30 something now... Also, just saw the latest Naruto ep. I'm really sick of the suspense. I wanna' know what happens! Therefore, it is manga time. So, Naruto manga experts, where should I start reading if I want to be at about the same spot the anime is at right now? No, I'm not interested in starting from the beginning... lol

You're only a third of the way through. The way the characters handle their situations is quite mature. I only watched a few episodes of the anime when it was Funimation but I'm sure it's a faithful translation of the manga.

I actually don't mind it at all. I recognize a lot of the voices from other shows. Rei is Tien from DBZ, Sana is Keiko from YuYu Hakusho, the principal is Vegeta, Tsuyoshi's dad is Majin Buu, etc... lol. It's kinda' funny. What cracks me up every time is the animation sequence of the old woman teacher, Mrs. Ando. Her face always falls apart and she quickly powders it, then it's a close-up of her trying to look young. Sounds dumb explaining it, but watching it is hilarious
