deletedxyz
The latest OVA of xxxholic has made me bump up the series and seriously consider it one of the best drama/supernatural shows I have ever seen since Mushishi. 9/

deletedxyz
Natsume Yuujinchou Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou 8/10 Too tired to think much, I guess I can describe the show as easygoing modern-day fantasy drama with a different story arc per episode... I felt that the second season was a bit too feminine and had a less diverse plot unlike the first season. Add Mushishi (mature version) and xxxholic (same set of characters but more bishounen and eccentric) to your playlist. If you like psychedelic colors and colorful, subtle dialogue, then check out Mononoke. Its artwork is one of the more unique ones I have come across. deletedxyz
I completed Fullmetal Alchemist, resulting in 500th addition to my anime/manga list. It has a decent ending that leans on the "rushed" side. It's not perfect. It ties up all the loose ends a bit too quickly to slowly enjoy each detail. I personally think that the manga should have been shortened by a few volumes with less fights and lame dialogue and the flawed philosophies during those fights OR extend the manga another volume or so to explain detailed solutions to each question the manga posed through its characters' actions. Is this the ultimate Shounen manga? No. Is it one of the best to ever be written in manga history? Perhaps but it certainly ranks as one of the best to ever be written in the past two decades. It's a good manga that I would recommend to anyone who wants to experience a fantasy world that successfully combines some features of the Adult/Seinen genre with the teenage/Shounen genre. 8/10 (Must read) Note: The last chapter is 108 pages long! It has enough material for an episode and a 30 min - 1 hour long epilogue OVA. I am not going to spoil anything but have to say to all you viewers of FMA: Brotherhood to be prepared for a major twist in the story about Ed that is quite surprising and interesting. If you enjoyed this manga, I STRONGLY recommend 20th Century Boys. It is one of the most highly acclaimed manga series and there are very strong similarities between the two works, such as the character dynamic and global conspiracies. Like FMA, its ending arc is not the best but the overall experience is excellent. MAJOR SPOILER: It looks like I got my WinryxEd ending that got a few pages dedicated to itself with a cheesy proposal. I guess that's all I can ask for. One of my all-time favourites when it comes to slice-of-life anime (Y) You'll realise at the end of the series how much of a masterpiece it is with the intertwining stories between the characters (as well as the soundtrack) and dude, Hagu is totally awesome (despite her looks, she's actually 18 years old) :p

Berserk87
5 Centimeters per Second = LAME The animation and sound effects were great, but the movie was an hour of a couple characters talking about their feelings, and nothing happened through out the whole movie. It's alright so far, it seems weird the main character likes that girl and she looks about 9yrs old... It's going to get weirder. I disliked the characters because the guys were just a group of #$@#$ @#$@#$ who put ##$@#$ on a pedestal. It's very Josei. The depictions of men being very friendly and social like best friends with each other by supporting each other through every obstacle is the feminine version of a seinen series showing bodacious girls having pillow fights. Nothing made me more annoyed than watching one of the male leads chase after some suicidal widow because he thinks he's some white kight in shining armor who can fix her. /my rant Apart from that, it has a good indie rock style soundtrack (one of the best I have heard). The loli character is more of an abstract take on the girl's nature. She's considered to a young, naive, daddy's girl (with a possible mental handicap?). One of my all-time favourites when it comes to slice-of-life anime (Y) You'll realise at the end of the series how much of a masterpiece it is with the intertwining stories between the characters (as well as the soundtrack) and dude, Hagu is totally awesome (despite her looks, she's actually 18 years old) :p Great narration, freaky group of characters is what I thought of the whole series. :p 5 Centimeters per Second = LAME The animation and sound effects were great, but the movie was an hour of a couple characters talking about their feelings, and nothing happened through out the whole movie. It's a very normal slice of life story with no sudden deaths, tragedies or car accidents and no explosions. I loved the movie when I first watched it. When I started analyzing it, I got more and more annoyed by the male lead's glorification of his middle school crush on a girl. He must have been the loser kid in high school with no female interaction to glorify that girl as the only one for him despite him dating others. TL;DR: The male lead becomes a lolicon because his closeted nature prevents him from having a moving romantic connection a girl he experienced only once with a middle school crush. You were expecting something else? The entire anime is based on the inner feelings of three individuals and how they come to terms with them when their circumstances change beyond their control  When I started analyzing it, I got more and more annoyed by the male lead's glorification of his middle school crush on a girl. Should have stop analysing and accepted it at face value (like when you first watched it) :) Great narration, freaky group of characters is what I thought of the whole series. :p Morita was the real freaky one out the group ;)

Only seen 3 episodes so far, but I am liking it and it's quite funny at times. I can't believe you're saying that Hagu is supposed to be 18 haha, some animators are weird :p I didn't catch who was the kid riding the bike in the first episode, was that Morita? No problem :) I just realised when I typing this out, it's been just over a year since I watched this anime :D It manages to mix light-hearted comedy with a laid-back atmosphere, yet has a serious tone with the life experiences of the characters (Y) And yes, Hagu is an adult. I was just as surprised to learn that as well when I watched it, you can blame Chica Umino for that :p Takemoto rides the bike, it's a re-occurring theme throughout the series and you'll see at the end what it symbolises. He's the character I relate to most, with similar personal experiences I've been through.
Berserk87
not enough fights or people screaming at each other eh? Thats probably the first "slice of life" anime ive watched, its not that there was no action stuff its that nothing happened. He didn't get the girl, he didn't become anything great, no one died, nothing. There was a couple parts when I thought something was actually going to happen like the girl saying she was going to tell him she liked him, then she cried a little and never told him. shakey
Well, we can finally put a great anime to books of history... Full Metal Alchemist has ended! They released the final chapter this previous Sunday. It was a whopping 110 pages long, but it put almost everything in the right place, and even lead you to want more. We got to see what happened with them after the events, and what they are going to do with their lives now. Was just amazingly well done. I could not be any happier I think with the ending, and can not wait to see this animated. Farewell FMA. You will be one of the greatest in my books. New Bleach 275 is out by horriblesubs. shakey
You're easily entertained, eh? The ending was far from "amazingly well done" and was simply a full stop to answer all the loose ends in a rushed manner. I thought it was well done in a way that it keeps you still wondering bout their world and lives, but gives you enough to be happy with the ending. A clean cut ending wrapping up all ties is always good, but it kills off the ability to wonder about what else. This ending leaves it open if they ever wanted to, to start on a new story, but closed enough to where if they don't, you know how everything sort of turned out. I liked how everything was explained, how the bad guy lost, why he lost (specifically), and what the brothers continued to do after all of it. Seeing Mustang still not as the leader and having some of the people doing what they are doing ( can't spoil much for those who missed it ) were good unexpected side events. What do you feel could have been done better? I understand how the Manga version of these can be a little lack luster and not reveal or show everything how it might be animated, so maybe the Anime will be a little better.... I do wish they went a little more into Edward and Winery, instead of leaving it how they left off lol, but everything else I felt was just right for the setting of the story to this point. And it was kinda lame. Havent had a chance to watch it yet, at least all of it. Watched half during lunch, then paused when #2 was revealing what his power was.... Ya, this part of the manga was slow, even with the crazy fighting. Can't wait for #2 to drop and see the rest of the action from there... but this fight was a little "ehhhhhhh whatever", to me in the manga. It was damn boring
