Finished the first ep. of Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi.

It's funny, so that's good enough for me to pass the time. :)

Now, time for some Amagami SS.

This weeks naruto as just so different but refreshing. I loved the animation they gave pain and naruto while fighting, and the emotion that was shown. Really brought out the intensity of the fight with such crazy animation.

Just finished "Monster".

Its a great anime, good design/characters/music/story, everything.

The ending was really good as well, but it didn't quite 'click' until I read this from a user called "statcookie" on another forum:

The real monster was obviously the mother because she loved one of her children more than the other.

[...]

So mother is the real monster because lives of her children were so unequal to her that she threw one of them away, and having such a mother ruins johan's sense of morality, because if their lives are not equal then people's lives are not equal. However, if they are equal then his mother is a monster having made such a decision. For johan it is easier to believe that lives are not equal than to acknowledge that his own mother is a true monster. So he commits all the murders and bad things to justify his mother's behavior and to forget that she is the monster.

Wow... let it go

As for Elfen Lied, have you seen it and what do you think about it. I was also thinking of watching hunter x hunter afterwards looks pretty good I do like adventure animes.

Elfen Lied was pretty good. Hunter X Hunter was very interesting and I'm really sad it's over. It had pretty dynamic characters and some you like, then hate, then maybe like again, and some just the opposite.

As for me, I just finished Angel beatz which was interesting. The end was very tear jerking. I also finished B Gata H Kei, which, honestly, might be the worst anime I have ever seen in the 10 years I've been watching anime. When it finally starts to somewhat get interesting, the show's over. I don't even hope for a second season, I wouldn't watch it.

I just started watching FMA:B. So far, it's quite good. Here's to hoping that all my cynicism is dispelled by the amazing animation. (Still loves Ed and Winry as my favorite characters).

It shouldn't be seen as the only reason though.

Yes, the mother is at fault to a certain extent. It doesn't excuse a person to commit such horrific, heinous, psychological and physical crimes that create chaos simply because of childhood trauma. Johan was extremely intelligent and his intelligence was channeled to create chaos and make everyone suffer because he thinks he was ultimately abandoned by a woman whom he thinks should have played the societal role of caring for them equally. His resentment for his mother is simply one of two focal points for him to justify his existence. (The other is knowing that his sister is living). Other than that, he simply views himself as a weapon whose only order is to create chaos.

I was amazed by the whole story because every character is human, which made the whole story even more frightening.

Did you jump away from your laptop with Johan's ending look at Tenma in the last episode? I #@$@#$ bricks. I love the policeman, Inspector Runge. He reminds me of Saito Hajime from Rurouni Kenshin, who was also amazing.

Did you know that Hollywood is trying to make a live action movie based on Monster?

I was recently watching Ghost in the Shell movies again for the umpteenth time and was trying to pinpoint why the dubs bothered me so much. I finally pinpointed it. Everyone has the same accent and tone despite being very different characters. Even the Yakuza guys, New City policemen and Motoko have the same "proper" accent (that is usually heard only in American audio dictionaries or pronunciation audiobooks). I wonder if the voice actors were bored when performing their roles.

LOL'ing at the shenanigans unfolding at ANN related to B Gata H Kei and death threats, so pathetic

Is that an OVA?

Nope, they are 6 episodes bundled with the Blu-ray release of the series.

Monster was great. It moved at a slow pace but man, it was awesome. Especially the ending episodes where they're all in that little town.

poor mr. grimmer :( ... but it was neat how Inspector Lunge, Grimmer, Tenma, etc. all came together at the end, and how that one lawyer guy proved Grimmer's innocence

Even my mom watched Monster. I think twice lol.

You liked Hunter x Hunter?

I thought it was a very poorly drawn manga written by the same mangaka behind the great Yu Yu Hakusho. Same character types, awful execution.

Saito was an amazing character. Probably my favourite from the whole series. Although Sanosuke just beat him to the title. Is Monster that good? Is it psychologically similar to Death Note (detective story wise) because that's the only anime I've seen of the genre.

No, Monster is a lot different, although still really good.

The only anime i've found with the same "feel" of Death Note is Code Geass, but they're two completely different types of anime.

Monster is really aimed for "mature" audiences. It is a must watch and is one of the best. Every character has some form of intelligence and there is no super saiyan or deus ex machinae moments. The only farfetched thing is the Nazi testing lab parts. The story revolves around three main characters and an amazing supporting cast that help advance the plot line at a gradual pace. People can argue that it could have been completed in half the number of episodes but it would take away from the somber story rich with details and character back stories that range from senators and doctors to prostitutes and drug addicts.

I never read the manga, just watched the show. The show had some slow parts, but overall was very good. I think most people in this topic would enjoy it, as they generally watch shows with a lot more and longer slow parts, such as bleach (I loved it at first but it got VERY boring, then picked up then got very boring again)
