Ecclestone strikes again

Recommended Posts

Ecclestone's proposal would see the current point system replaced by an Olympic-style medal system in which the top three finishers of the race would be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. At the end of the season, the driver with the most gold medals would win the title. As it currently stands, the driver who wins the most races doesn't necessarily win the championship, as was the case this year.

What's wrong with a point system? Nascar and Indy have it and it works fine. Bernie...Bernie...time to step down.

Who cares? I used to watch F1 for Schumi anyways..

Hopefully Ferrari will quit F1 this year and then there will definitely be nothing to watch in F1..

Great attitude to the sport... if your not a fan then i wouldnt post a comment like that.

In my opinion this would be a very bad decision; like the media were saying yesterday, ecclestone is just annoyed as he wanted ferrari to win the season. he needs to get over it.

Do Ecclestone or Mosley still have any credibility left? I really think it's time they need to let a younger generation run F1 before ruin it beyond repair.

These new "rules" are pretty convenient because as the 2008 season stood by these "rules" Hamilton would have lost the WDC by virtue of Massa being gifted one of his wins by the stewards.

More to the point they completely take away everything from the lower teams. What are they to aim for now? At least aiming for a points scoring position was realistic and feasible. Perhaps we should just let Ferrari and McLaren fight it out and get rid of the other teams instead; after all they just help fill up the grid right?

Totally agree. I don't see how the medals system would work for the lower teams at all. Bernie has got it all wrong on this one.

Honda pulling out is nothing to do with the medals, they spent the most money and probably got the least back due to their crap performance. Couple that with poor car sales for honda and minimal sponsors they had, the decision was always going to happen.

As for the medals thing, the medals will only exist for 1-3rd, the rest will still get the points apparently and the current points would still exist for the constructors championship.
