Vista
Does this program have any advantages over WinRAR? I'm especially interested in the extracting speeds.
Minchino
It's free! I think for a several formats it is faster, from the help file: RAR Format7-Zip provides superior decompression speed for RAR archives. For solid archives it decompresses only the minimum number of files needed. For example, consider a solid archive archive.rar containing 100000 files created by the command: rar a archive.rar -s100 * -r In this solid archive, each group of 100 files is compressed as one big file. To extract one file from that archive, 7-Zip will decompress (in memory) only some files from one group. As a result, 7-Zip can provide the combined advantages of solid compression and high speed of decompression. Only thing letting it down IMO is the UI, but I do nearly everything from context menu's. It's could sorely do with a new icon and toolbar icon set. Lets hope for skinning like WinRAR some day. :)
vajlent
Thanx mate! Agree with the toolbar icons, they are boring but i will make some new ones later and modify it with Restorator. ;)
brentaal
Nice to see a new stable release of this app :D I just hope the author decides to focus a bit more on the GUI side in the future, changing the icons, etc, like others already said.
