IGN US scores Football Manager 2009 as a 2, UK scores it as 9.1

Talk about reviewer discrepancies. IGN US has posted up a review on Football Manager 2008 and awarded it a pathetically low score of 2/10, while IGN UK has awarded the same game a 9.1/10. Amusingly, the US reviewer seems to have no clue that Football Manager is a management simulation and concludes his review by stating "I couldn’t imagine why anybody would prefer Worldwide Soccer Manager to FIFA 09 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2009." Err, hello, you have to compare LIKE for LIKE, the reviewer seems to think that Football Manager is actually supposed to be a soccer simulation, blasting it for its lack of "traditional gameplay to speak of."

While you have to like management sims to like the game, a score of 2 is just ridiculous.

Think IGN US would be better letting someone review who remotely likes football/soccer, or at least knows what the game is! It doesn't really compare to FIFA/Pro Evo, it compares to FIFA Manager if anything.

Lol!

Epic fail on IGN's behalf, don't even seem to understand the premise of the game.

Though it brings an interesting side to reviewing, someone who gets the game perfectly, and someone who has never played one before.

But still, silly IGN.

Yup, they took it down. Indeed, IGN tend to produce somewhat more personal and biased reviews than, say Gamespot or PC Gamer. But I still check them out often, they usually do a decent job. That one must have a been a shame though.

Whoever allowed that review to get posted and done in the first place should be at the very least knocked down a couple pegs and the worst fired for that kind of mistake. I don't actually blame the reviewer, simply because it's possible he (or she, dunno) had no clue about the game and was just given the game and told "here review it" more or less. Still, they should have done some research into what the game is before reviewing it, but that is all IGN's fault.

I'll agree a 2/10 is absurdely negative, but really - who in Europe (or even here in the State) would read an American review of this game? :D
