ProclaimDragon
I have a very old TV Tuner card and I just found a few drivers for Vista x64 that worked fine to capture video (that's what I want it for) but I had to disable driver signing. Although, this leaves me with the "Test Mode" label on the desktop. Any easy way to remove this label? The only way I could find involved too many steps to remove it... If I can't find a better way, I'll just leave driver signing enabled and disable it whenever I need to use the capture device. +BudMan MVC Posted December 24, 2008 MVC Share Posted December 24, 2008 How did you disable driver signing requirement? bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS As to the test mode - From a simple google And another tid-bit for those who wish to remove the Test Mode watermark: Quote: Open up Regedit and navigate to the following keys: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA\Certificates\FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87FDE2A065FD89D4] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Certificates\2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB519243C13142EBC3] And delete the pair of them, reboot and lo and behold dodgy testing message has vanished! ProclaimDragon
Hum, what I found was way more complicated than that... It even involved booting with the Vista DVD and going to the command prompt, change *.mui files, etc... I did this to allow unsigned drivers installation: bcdedit /set testsigning on Any different from your suggestion? There's also bcdedit /set oslnointegritychecks on, are they all different? I know that the one I used worked fine and I could use the capture driver... +BudMan MVC Posted December 24, 2008 MVC Share Posted December 24, 2008 Well there are quite a few methods out there.. some work before SP1 and before certain updates, etc.. From the way I read the thread where reg files to remove the test mode thing was it, shouldn't matter. Have tried readydriver ?? here http://citadel.x10hosting.com/readydriverplus/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/712994-any-easy-way-to-remove-test-mode-label-from-the-desktop/#findComment-590313022 Share on other sites
ProclaimDragon
From ReadyDriver's website I couldn't find/understand what exactly does it do... I have yet to test your reg fix suggestion though... ProclaimDragon
But I can do that by one of those bcdedit commands and I'm thinking in what ReadyDriver is better from those commands? ProclaimDragon
I was having some issues playing some files on Media Center x64 when I realized that the filters/codecs I was using were for 32bits and there are no builds for 64bits. That made me reinstall Windows x86 instead and the problem is no gone of course...
