Hm, I could live with that until WLM gets fixed in Win7. Thanks for that Brandon, you're the man! :D

I honestly see no reason to go back to Vista now. Every single major application I use on a daily basis works on this, and it really does feel faster.

Unless I suddenly start getting BSOD's, this is definitely the OS to be running.

Most likely our disk has exceptionally bad random access performance, and will introduce noticeable hangs as you use your computer. that's what causes it to be limited to a 3.0 (bad) or 2.0 (extremely bad) rating.

The idea is to inform users which components are holding their systems back. In your case, it's your hard drive.

ive noticed that theres no "advanced performance" option and it was available on vista. did not make a difference but.....

Im running 2X Fujitsu 250 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 4200 rpm drives... Does anyone have bad disk performance rating?

Does anyone else have an issue with the video library in WMP in this build? It keeps showing that I have no videos, but I have the folders pointed to the correct location.

This only happens with videos, music and picture library work as expected.

Aside from that, I'm loving this build.

I had that problem with my music. Open up the folder in question in explorer, then click the button to get access to it. Then remove and add it to your WMP library. With previous builds though it messed up my permissions in Vista.

Microsoft decided to not mark builds clearly. Have you seen any Alpha markers or anything? No. Paul Thurrott names build 7000 as Beta 1, so I think we can say it IS beta 1.

I thought there will be BETA and RC, (no Beta 1, 2 and so on.....)

am i correct??, is this build labeled BETA or Beta 1??? just asking to make sure that there aren't much betas in they way to final (shorting final release time if you know what I mean?).

thanks

w00t! I'm now part of the Win7 club :)

What's the best driver to use for a GeForce 8400M GT ? Downloading 179.28 for Vista 32bit now.

EDIT:

The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are

compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit. :'(

Stick with the built in ones as they are designed for WDDM 1.1, Whereas Windows Vista drivers are 1.0

I get 3.0 for the hard disk score with a 50GB partition install.

That worked, thanks!

I wouldn't say for sure. Until Microsoft releases Beta 1 officially - we can't really be sure.

Did you try running it as administrator as well? One program of mine needed Compatibility Mode/Admin privileges for it to properly install, but then it worked perfectly.

Uh huh. Ran it as Administrator with 'Vista' Compatibility and I get this ..

Try taking ownership of that particular folder...the winsxs and see if it will let you continue.

Can't seem to figure out how. Tried going through the dialogs but all the options are greyed out.

what verison is the PC suit you have ?

the current one is 7.1

it installed fine here "6801"

Nokia PC Suite 7.1 on 'Beta 1' - just won't work.

just had a quick play around and i am so happy microsoft finally removed the columns (name, type, size etc) from all the file views except detail

in vista it was so annoying and ugly having to see the columns in tile view large view etc

:)

Still annoying that the file type properties dialog is still gone tho

:(

I miss that it was handy to sort in other views

I believe that the columns were there simply to help you sort files easier (you could click on the columns no matter what view you were in and they would be sorted or grouped accordingly).
