Has anyone had an issue when the window transparency starts turning of and switching to solid black? When I go to the Personalize menu and turn it back on after a while it reverts to black again. Can't figure out what is causing this..

Ok found an answer to it. Guess Live Mesh is causing this. Will wait till they update the software with a fix.

Hmm, seems my Windows 7 doesn't like to be restarted or shutdown.

Anyone experienced that once on a while the UAC is causing the resolution to change to 1024x768 (when installing software) and the wallpaper to disappear (black)? Sometimes it's difficult to restore the resolution again. I'm running 1920x1200 on a SyncMaster 245B LCD.

edit:

It also seems to be a bug with the resolution switcher. If you choose a new resolution and then click on revert back, it doesn't change it back again. Could be related to the bug I mentioned above though. I have to choose a different resolution and then select keep before changing it again.

I do not get this problem, haven't had any problems with UAC, trying turning UAC off and leave it that way?

Bug Check 0x9F: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

The DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE bug check has a value of 0x0000009F. This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

so it's a driver issue

Microsoft included everything with Vista.... Everybody said it was slow, big, bloated. Now Microsoft put Win7 on a diet, moving stuff to the Live! download. Now people will say Win7 should be as complete as OS X with iLife...

Get a grip! What do people really want?

I believe it would be much better if Microsoft included these softwares in the installer disc and gives the end users complete control over what they want to install and what they don't....that would be much fair to them instead of just removing them from OS altogether..........and only give Web as an option....

I found a workaround for this.

Open Winrar and go to Options -> settings -> integration

And then uncheck "icons in contex menus".

thankies....was having same prob...

The problem with these programs moving over to Live is that ads will inevitably be added, as was the case with Windows Live Messenger.

Right now I really like the direction this thing is heading, both the design and functionality. At first it seems that it's just like Vista, but then there are different minor UI niceties here and there that really made a game changer for me. The whole new boot screen animation is just awesome IMHO.

Just wish they would users even more control over the features which can be enabled/disabled. I really thought there would be more options due to the whole componentisation thing and all. Still you can turn off some of the stuff, and Windows as a whole really is faster; for AERO to work you don't need a fancy graphics card, even an integrated one works etc.

Si I really think that Microsoft started getting it right if you look at the whole new stuff they are doing: Windows 7, Office 12/14, Windows Live Wave 3, the new XBox 360 experience, the Zune stuff. It really is a beginning of something new and awesome.

Anyone else like Windows Media Player better when its bottom control area was glass (like Windows 7 Photo Viewer)?

Nope. I prefer this solid look better; it looks clean and the text is far easier to read without the blurry shadow behind it. Windows 7's Photo Viewer is still due for a UI makeover before RTM, hopefully.

Well I took the plunge and deployed build 7000 to just mess around with. I been holding out for the x64 beta do to my 6GB of ram but I was too antsy. Well after the quick install I noticed it is showing all 6GB of ram. I thought this was rather odd do to 32bit limitations. Is the 32bit really 32bit? Heh Anyone else seen this?

Cheers,

Mikee

I am not sure completely, but I think they have now made it so that it at least detects how much RAM you have installed. However, it does not mean your x86 will actually take advantage of the extra RAM to boost performance. Guess this sort of makes sense.

Correct. It's like this since Vista SP1.

I think it would be better if there was a field under that saying "Memory Available to Windows" with a help link saying "Why can't Windows use all of my memory?"
