They're for onboard realtek hi def audio. It's funny, I didn't have to install those in any compatibility mode at all, they installed as they would in Vista and I can change all the control panel settings and everything.

Dunno if this really matters, lol but noticed to stating it here. I had build 6956 installed as well. Size of Windows folder in 6956 was 7.42 GB (7.50 GB size on Disk - 44,271 files, 8697 folders)

while in the newer build 7000 :p ;

The size is 7.38 GB (7.46 GB size on Disk - 44,161 files, 8650 folders)

:p

No change in size of Program Files

Hi all!! I have been lurking forever but decided to finally sign up :)

To me it actually seems a smidge SLOWER than 6956. But i haven't really spent the time to put it through the tests to REALLY know ;)

Only problem is my vista drive STILL will not show up. it hasnt yet on any of the leaked builds!

Windows 7 is looking great so far but theres one thing thats bugging me!

Windows 7 is going to ship with Windows DVD Maker but not any software for viewing photos, creating movies or chatting? This is one area that needs looking at as Macs have most essential stuff like this built in and new users will be quite confused at this i feel.

Microsoft included everything with Vista.... Everybody said it was slow, big, bloated. Now Microsoft put Win7 on a diet, moving stuff to the Live! download. Now people will say Win7 should be as complete as OS X with iLife...

Get a grip! What do people really want?

M$ is doing it so people can decide for themselves what they want to download through live.com and no more removing older versions and installing the latest ones since the ones you get from Live will always be the new ones.

Problem is, the more Microsoft includes, the more problems they get because of the EU law stuff. There's a special european edition of Windows (has N behind the name) that has Windows Media Player etc removed. If Microsoft would leave all their software inside they would get complaints because of their monopoly position.

They just have to promote their Live-suite a little more. Maybe build it so that it can be installed directly from the Control Panel instead of having to go through IE.

This is good, i just hope they make this clear for new users. Is there anything in Windows 7 now that tells users where and how they can get Windows Live downloads?

It used to be in the Welcome Center, and now that's renamed Getting Started and on top of the start menu. You have to go to it's jump list to find it though. Like I said above, they should make the Live Suite install easier.

Actually, Mac OS X and iLife are two separate bundles.

What are min sys requirements of this? Hows it shaping up on netbooks?

Haven't installed the beta 1 yet, but the last build was pretty fast on my aspire one. At a rough estimate, I'd say its as fast on that as Vista is on my proper laptop (2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 8600M GT). So considering the difference in specs, I think that has something to say about windows 7 (or maybe just about vista lol). Haven't installed much on it so not sure how it be affected by that.

Im using it on a Samsung nc10 (2GB), and finding it great.

Performance is as good, if not better than XP.

When does XP sales/support end??, as I reckon vista will be skipped, and windows 7 will be used for netbooks by OEMs.

Only problem so far is that sounds stops working after sleep or hibernate, anyone else get this????

Giving out the names of the files so others can search with them is a violation of the site rules.

Anyone looking for a warez'd copy of the new build only has to look at the front page to see what to search for.
