The drivers installed by Windows Update for an Audigy 2 ZS are old.

I would install the (in)famous 2.15.0004EQ modded drivers by daniel_k. Since they've been removed from the net, try this link.

They will install properly, just don't expect CMSS to work.

thx guys, i will try the drivers u recommend rm20010

the kx drivers work now, dunno why, but i got the same problem as everyone, i only got the sound from the rear speakers oO

you can reverse the speakers in KX control panel

you can reverse the speakers in KX control panel

Control Panel didn't work for me, all you need to do is either, set a new 'Default' device in the sound control panel which is connected to your front speakers, or change your wires at the back of the card to a different port.

the KX team decided to swap the front and rear audio ports because the rear port has reduced noise.

Also, installing them directly from the installer didn't work properly, I ended up just installing the drivers manually through the device manager.

I installed the latest version from Creative's site with no problems. I don't have the ZS version, just the standard Audigy 2.

The only problems I encountered are:

- Creative Audio Console fails to set 5.1 speakers, but doing so in the Playback Devices panel worked fine

- strange audio distortion occurs every few seconds. Temporarily set the default sampling rate to 96kHz and it's okay now

I wonder how soon, if at all, will Creative release drivers for 7 :p

@neo

thx for your reply, the port change would work i think..

but i installed the driver rm recomendet, and got a blue screen ;P i had to recover the Win7 installation but now everything works fine ;)

so we can consider this as resolved, thanks all :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I've never been able to get surround sound to work on my 5.1 speakers on Audigy 2 ZS, but I finally figured it out and I thought I'd share.

I'm also using the W7 Beta btw.

Apparently Creative removes the surround sound option from their drivers, but some guy named Daniel K put the feature back in.

The Driver version is: v2.15.0004EQ

The drivers are kind of hard to come by, but I think they are on a few of the public torrent sites.

It also comes with the Audio Console and all the other tools that Creative doesn't seem to offer anymore.

It's sad that I've had the Audigy 2 ZS card since it came out and first have surround working now. :s

Good luck and enjoy :)
