From what I can tell no official keys have been let out the door just yet. We are just going to have to wait until microsoft finalizes everything and finishes setting stuff up then we can get our keys.

Wait, I thought Technet and MSDN subs were able to get access to the keys already. This morning, MS also opened the business download page so developers could start downloading, hence the official download links for the ISOs being leaked two hrs early. I would assume there is already a big chunk of the keys gone already to those who already have access. The question is whether there will be any left for the rest of us to snatch one.

Man that really sucks for the people that had to restart their downloads!

For people getting ****ed at microsoft, why? They can not help problems with their severs, they may have alot but ALOT of people want this beta, there is no way for them to be fully prepared for how many people visit their sites. It doesnt help went 60% of all the people there doing constant refreshes!

January 9, 2009 (Computerworld) Microsoft Corp. postponed the roll-out of the Windows 7 beta today, citing "very heavy traffic" on its Web site.

The company did not offer a new schedule for delivering the beta of its newest operating system.

"Due to very heavy traffic we're seeing as a result of interest in the Windows 7 Beta, we are adding some additional infrastructure support to Microsoft.com properties before we post the public Beta today," a spokeswoman said in an instant message reply to earlier questions about the Microsoft.com's performance. "We want to ensure customers have the best possible experience when downloading the Beta."

Looks like you will all have to wait longer.

link works for key.. msdn, microsoft and technet are posting TO LOG OFF ON THEIR SERVERS just because the server will not have troubles and webpage overcharged...

as you can see someone got the key from that page , just try ...try...and GL!

I'd caution anyone who takes computerworld seriously. They love to run with isht. They added the operative word "today" to their quote to glean the postponement headline they could run. The fact that the IM they supposedly got is almost 99% of what Brandon posted at the blog is telling as well. Btw, MS PR and Wagner Edstrom don't communicate to the press via friggin IM.

Sadface... And I hoped they would make things right this time...

There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people trying to get ahold of the beta. That has to affect their server infrastructure, don't you think?

I already sent them a nasty email.

Good for you! Now they can stop working on the Beta issue and take time out of their day to read your whining.

I'm sure they will hand-deliver a key to your door with their most sincere apology for any inconvenience their free beta software may have caused you.

If the show doesn't start within the next 20 minutes I'm going to start making loud screeching sounds.

Better go ahead an make that appointment with your doctor to check on those worn out vocal cords you will have by the end of the day.

And its amazing how people complain about free software, or anything free in general. It's FREE. The person or company providing it has no obligation to do anything for you at all to begin with so complaining to them is not going to change anything. I am sure they already are well aware of the inconvenience, hence the post on their windows blog sort of apologizing for the delay.

I think you keep missing the point. In a nutshell, MS is one of the biggest corporations in the world. It's an absolute joke that they have never been able to deliver on time since the dawn of civilization. Windows is the single most important piece of software in the world and shapes every single one of our daily lives. Because of their monopoly, if you want a computer like everyone else has, you have to take whatever they shove up your ***. That is why we are so ****ed that they can' t even deliver a public beta without their servers crashing when they have 100 to the 100000 exponent resources to make this work correctly and like i said, it's an absolute joke that they can't.
