Shadrack
Dual Monitor. A 22" widescreen and a 19" 4:3. I'm not sure I would feel comfortable using a computer without dual monitor these days :D. but why???i'd get 2*24" maybe but 3*30?? Why not? If he wants larger monitors that support higher resolutions then that is his own business. Why doesn't everyone use a single 19" monitor or 17" monitor? Why did people throw away their CRTs or upgrade to HDTV? I can think of some more silly questions but I'll stop. Blackhearted
I must say, I'm definitely surprised to see the number of users out there that have dual monitor setups. I've been using a single monitor ever since I started using computers. I'm open to using two but I just don't see the need for it. As such, I'm running a single 22" Acer AL2216W (1680x1050) which served me well since '06. I'm not all that surprised myself, really. I mean, a large amount of people you see on web forums always seem very well off with quite a bit of money to burn. So dual or triple monitor costs are like nothing to them. MasterC
but why???i'd get 2*24" maybe but 3*30?? I do media design, so it's easier to throw my palettes on the side screens to work. If my side screens are bigger, each palette can show more so I don't have to scroll / hunt for the tool I need. Why not? If he wants larger monitors that support higher resolutions then that is his own business. Why doesn't everyone use a single 19" monitor or 17" monitor? RPDL
I have 3 computers with 19 inch CRTs. I would love to have dual-monitors, since I often need alot of windows open at the same time when working, but my screens have thick edges and they are HUGE. AnthonySterling
2 x 20.1 @ 1680x1050. I really hate working on single monitor systems now, they seem so restrictive. excalpius
I have 3 computers with 19 inch CRTs. I would love to have dual-monitors, since I often need alot of windows open at the same time when working, but my screens have thick edges and they are HUGE. I used to do the same thing and I HIGHLY recommend you dump all the CRTs. They use a TON of power compared to the LCDs, are much harder on the eyes, etc. When I switched from CRT to LCD for all of my uber monitors I saved enough in power every few months to pay for each LCD (which are ultra cheap now). LCDs only use 1-2 watts in standby, which is a fraction of what CRTs use. I keep one CRT nearby for color calibration and final delivery issues, but it's not even plugged in, hehe. Just my two cents. TruckWEB
Dual monitor here and would not live without it! More space, can see more open apps at the same time. Everything is better. LG 25.5" : 1920x1200 Samsung 21.6" : 1680x1050 My main desktop PC is connected with the DVI input of both monitors. My server is connected to the VGA input of my LG and my Mac is connected to the VGA input of my Samsung, so even the Macbook is dual monitor! spike232
Single 22" widescreen, despite a 19" 5:4 monitor sitting right next to it. Used duals for a while but it just seemed like too much hassle. Thirtythree
Single monitor. And it's not true that once you go dual monitor you never want to go back. I had a 19-inch Samsung LCD with my 22-inch Samsung LCD. I had no problem selling it to a friend and going back to single monitor. Now at work having dual monitor is essential for anyone doing IT work. I'd take a 24-inch widescreen over my dual 17-inch LCDs at work though. gazebee_
I'm using my Macbook away from home while I'm at uni, but at home I had 15 x2. BGM
i have 15.4" @ 1680x1050 i occasionally use dual monitors at work (2x 20" @ 1600x1200), but honestly prefer just the one, at a nice high res/size ratio WUXGA (1920x1200) on a 22" or 24" is my fav Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/718102-do-you-run-single-or-dual-monitor-setup-on-your-rig/page/4/#findComment-590907070 Share on other sites
