dave_the_scot
Hi I'm running Windows 7 Public Beta and and as Windows Mail is installed by default I chose to install Mozilla Thunderbird. Mozilla is ok but I would really like Windows Mail back and would like to know if, like a few other Vista utils (like the quick launch bar), Windows Mail is hidden and can still be installed? If so, I'd appreciate info on this please. If not, then can Windows Mail be downloaded or copied from a Vista install and then installed on Windows 7? I copied the windows Mail folder from program files on a Vista install but I think that you might need the complete program so that ALL of it is installed. Any help appreciated. crazzyyfool
Can you just not use Windows Live Mail as part of the Windows Live Essentials download? x3lumin8x
kraized, when you download and install Live Mail, it gives you an option if you want to install other Essentials. Is that what you're asking? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/727358-windows-7-pop3-mail-program/#findComment-590481984 Share on other sites
dave_the_scot
Hi Thanks you for all your replies. I would really like to have "The" Windows Mail POP3 program that was installed in Vista by default and is now missing from Windows 7. I've downloaded windows Live Essentials and it does give you various options of of which is Live Mail but, to be honest, I much prefer Windows Mail and I'm sure there must be a way to get the program and then install it on Windows 7. If not, then I'm using Mozilla which works quite well, so I might just have to stick with that. +Elі Subscriber² Posted January 26, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted January 26, 2009 Windows Live Mail allows you to use POP3 protocol just as Windows Mail did, to be honest I like it even better than the client that comes with Vista, have you installed it and tried yet? Windows Live Mail is basically the next version of Windows Mail. They are the same. Windows Live Mail is Windows Mail. What you download that is called Windows Live Mail is Windows Mail. This is what everyone is trying to tell you. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/727358-windows-7-pop3-mail-program/#findComment-590482056 Share on other sites
dave_the_scot
Hi again Forgot to mention that my primary POP3 email address is my NTL(Virgin Media) address and that's why I would like to continue using Windows Mail. I'm not sure that you can use POP3 accounts with Windows Live Mail but, if you can, then I may consider Windows Live Mail. bradavon
Windows Live Mail looks and acts virtually identically to Windows Mail. Why would anyone prefer it? It's missing loads from Windows Live Mail. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/727358-windows-7-pop3-mail-program/#findComment-590487926 Share on other sites
