TheElite
LOL, Mir did win, but very unconvincingly. Lesnar will take him now. And that is a damn stacked card. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/735868-ufc-98/#findComment-590579888 Share on other sites
Zoom7000
lol @ Rappy! I was just getting in to the posting mood! I think Mir can very well beat him again. He showed in the first fight just how many shots he can take and I think he will be ready for him again, if not more this time. Definately wanna see him back on top of the HW division. It'll be interesting to see if Matt Hughes can bounce back from his recent losses. Either way, can't see either of them challenging GSP for the belt on his current form. Rappy Veteran Posted March 8, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted March 8, 2009 Brock vs Mir not happening! After the theatrics and confusion in the days leading up to UFC 96 in Columbus, it was announced Saturday that UFC interim heavyweight champion Frank Mir's rematch against UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was pushed back from UFC 98 on May 23 to UFC 100 on July 11.Mir confirmed the fight during Saturday's UFC 96 pay-per-view broadcast. In a post-UFC 96 press conference, UFC President Dana White confirmed those tentative plans but said nothing is definite. In the 24 hours prior to UFC 96, the status of the Mir vs. Lesnar bout remained in a state of flux following conflicting reports of a possible surgery undergone by Mir and a reported fight cancellation. Saturday night the MMA world learned that Mir did indeed have knee surgery last Thursday, knocking him out of UFC 98. While Mir announced the fight would take place at UFC 100, White was noncommittal when asked about the date. "Off the top of my head, I don't know, but it'll be the summer," White said. Instead we get Jackson (or Machida) vs Evans Rashad Evans now moves into the headliner role for the event. He's likely to face Quinton Jackson, who scored a unanimous-decision win over Keith Jardine in the main event of UFC 96. But White stressed the bout is not official and could instead feature Evans vs. undefeated Lyoto Machida."We still have to make sure Quinton is 100 percent," said White, who noted that the fight would be Jackson's third in just a five-month span . "It's not a done deal. Quinton has to go get something checked out, make sure he's 100 percent healthy. If he is, that'll be the fight. If not, it'll be Lyoto Machida (vs. Evans)." Unkoil
Brock vs Mir not happening!Instead we get Jackson (or Machida) vs Evans Jackson and Evans may not happen either.. Jackson doesn't like the time frame he has to train for Evans, nothing has been signed as of yet. DiEMOS
Yea, the fight card changed, Main even is going to be amazing, I don't even know who to root for, I like em both, I think its close to 50/50. Zoom7000
I really wanted to see Evans face off against Rampage but Machida is nonetheless deserving of a title shot! I don't think Evans is anywhere near his skill and I see Machida taking this! Houston Alexander on the preliminary... after such an explosive start... to this! :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/735868-ufc-98/#findComment-590720280 Share on other sites
DiEMOS
I don't know, Evans commenting on Rampage was point on, he knew what rampage was GOING to do, I mean it just says that Rashad is intelligent and will have a great plan against Machida, look what happened to Chuck, nobody though evans will do that, either way, 50% 50%, its going to be great fight. Lyoto Machida is one of the most elusive fighters I have ever seen. If you saw his fight with Tito Ortiz, Machida humiliated him. The only thing that was missing was a TKO or a tapout. I don't see Evans planning for this fight. Machida will change his game plan too often in the fight and I will be just too content seeing Evans streak go down. Better his than Machida's. Evans didn't really do anything against Chuck though. You can go through the archives of the UFC and find hundreds of KO's that were the same thing; lucky timing for a shot on the button. If the good Machida shows up, Evans is in deep huge trouble. Machida has arguably the most unorthodox fighting style in all of MMA, and will confuse Evans to the point where he just regresses to the ghetto thug he really is. The only thing I wonder, is in what way is Evans going to act like a classless POS like he has in the rest of this fights.
