HilariousNinja
?18 million for Glen Johnson? ?18 million for Antonio Valencia? The world has gone mad. Benzema is going to the Mancs for ?38 million as well apparently. 38 million! That's a hell of a lot for Benzema, but since Real went crazy I'm not really surprised. Lyon and many other clubs which have United targets see we have ?80 million to potentially spend, so they'll be in charge of the situation and tell us to cough up. Personally anything over ?30 million for Benzema is too much. Weld_El_7aj
Marca.com & AS.com 2 spanish sport papers are informing that Real Madrid got a deal with OL for Benzema for 35M?, and that it will be confirmed between today and tomorrow. Miralem Pjanic is one for the future (Y) Meanwhile we are strengthening our defense and about time.. word is Cana is next Wenger wants.. He wanted Melo but Melo doesn't want to leave his club.. I still hope we sell Ade and get a better striker than him plus a winger.. Spuds meanwhile want Maxi Rodriguez.. Weld_El_7aj
Olivier Blanc, from OL just denied the news that appeared on the spanish papers in L'equipe, he said that OL got a offer close to what Marca told, 35m? but didn't said from which club. well, knowing how OL presindent is, he'll get more than 35m? for a good 21y-o player. Martyn
He has gone to Real Madrid now, 35 million euros, which could rise to 41 million euros. Real Madrid's attackers now: Kaka, Ronaldo, Benzema, Raul, RvN, Guti, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Huntelaar, Robben, Negredo, Higuain, It will be interesting to see how they fit them all in ;) I'm sure Liverpool will beat them 5-0 again next season :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/745234-football-summer-2009-transfer-thread/page/11/#findComment-591217842 Share on other sites

Kralik
I think the more interesting thing will be if Real Madrid don't win the League/CL  ATM anything can happen.. they are not investing in defenders to match their attack.. they can win 5-4 or lose 4-0.. What I'm saying is if they don't win, or don't at least reach the CL final it's going to be "embarrassing" for them after wielding around all that money without a care in the world. And I agree mate.. anyways.. guess who Man U are looking at to replace Ronaldo? Michael Owen would not have been the name on most people's lips when suggestions were mooted as to how Sir Alex Ferguson could reinforce Manchester United's depleted forward line, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, and the imminent exit of Carlos Tevez, probably to Manchester City. Not only is Owen an icon at United's fierce Lancashire rivals Liverpool, but he has also endured a spate of injuries during his time at Newcastle United and, prior to that, at Real Madrid, something which has seen him lose his place in the England squad. However, Sky Sports News is reporting that it "understands" that "tentative" talks have begun between Owen's representatives and United, after bookmakers' odds on a likely move fell from 20/1 this morning to an astonishing 9/4 on this evening. Yes! Thats right! its Owen.. They started with Ribery then Benz and now Owen.. thats like wanting to buy a Ferrari and settling for a Nissan Micra.. Martyn
Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has completely rejected an offer from Manchester City for John Terry. It was made clear to City, for the second time following an approach last season, that we would not entertain any conversation on the subject. At that time John also reiterated his total commitment to Chelsea. We would like to make clear, and will not do so again, that John is not for sale. Kralik
Come..... A?Nissan Micra is more reliable than Micheal Owen. Its strange.. on one hand Madrid are buying great players who United want and these players are rejecting United to go to Real and then we have United who want to buy a striker that Madrid sold (or rejected.. if that helps get the point across) because he was not performing.. ATM I'm honestly not worried abt United next season.. with this squad they are no better than Everton.. maybe Fergie learnt smth from AW and wants to give his young players more chances next season.. in that case he should also rem that we are trophee-less for 4 seasons.. but will end this season :)) Edited July 3, 2009 by Kralik Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/745234-football-summer-2009-transfer-thread/page/11/#findComment-591224780 Share on other sites
HilariousNinja
He'd be on a free, hey it couldn't be that bad! It might be on the same level of genius from Fergie as the Larsson signing a while back. Mike
Reminds of Fergie getting Bosnich to help negotiations with Barthez. You buy someone on the cheap/free so you don't come across as *needing* the player you want and so don't get held to ransom. As for Benzema he said last year he'd never come to england so I never expected him to join us. MightyJordan
Wow, he's taking a 50% pay cut to join us! He's being offered ?50k a week plus huge bonus for appearances and goals. He's gotta pass the medical first, which could take place today. I think at Man U, Owen might have a chance to get back into the limelight. If he works with the best (like he did at Liverpool), then he should play like the best. Brad.
I hope he passes the medical and does something for his career at Man United to be quite honest. I hate Man United, but Michael Owen was my favorite footballer as I was growing up and getting into football. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do, Fergie wouldn't sign him if he knew he was utter crap. Beastage
If Owen goes back into shape he has at least 3 years ahead of him to play in that position, so it is a bargain deal for both sides.
