Roma ace Alberto Aquilani has been told by the Italian club to prepare for life in the Premier League with Liverpool, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

The report suggests the Reds are expected to make a move for the Italian midfielder if Xabi Alonso joins Real Madrid. In light of those developments, the Giallorossi are ready to cash in on Aquilani in order to balance their books, and they have told him to prepare for a move.

How do Liverpool fans rate him compared to Xabi? I feel Xabi is a better playmaker as he can see things very quickly..

Abt Diarra.. its Mahmoudo.. he was never at Arsenal.. we had Lassana.. we also had Gilberto, Flamini and Hleb back then and hence he was not given many starts.. I feel our best holding mf now is Song.. and Diarra can be better than him and therefore can get to start more..

Another name linked to Liverpool..

Alvaro Negredo's agent has fuelled talk Liverpool want the Real Madrid ace by admitting several Premier League clubs have made offers.

The 23-year-old striker could be sold by Real this summer following the high-profile arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Kaka at the Bernabeu and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is said to be leading the chase to sign him.

Spurs have also been linked with a bid with reports suggesting offers in the region of ?17million would be enough to land Negredo, who impressed while on loan at Almeria in La Liga last season.

The player's agent, Alejandro Camara, says some Spanish clubs as well as Premier League sides have been in touch although a deal remains some way off at the moment.

"We have had several offers from the Premier League, but no deal has been finalised and we are still studying which is the best option for the player," he said in the Daily Mirror.

"But also there are clubs in Spain who are interested."

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano is keen to secure a move to Spain as he has grown 'tired of life in England', according to his agent.

The Argentina international is a reported target of Real Madrid and Barcelona, but the enforcer remains part of Reds manager Rafa Benitez's plans.

However, Mascherano's representative, Walter Tamer, has claimed the 25-year-old has grown unsettled in the Premier League and is eager to move abroad.

Tamer is quoted by Infobae.com as saying: "Barcelona is the easiest deal to set up as Javier wants to go to Spain. He is tired of life in England.

"His wife has not been given a permanent visa. She has to go through an odyssey each time she wants to go.

"Liverpool refuse to sell, this can be overcome with an extraordinary offer."

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o's has reached an agreement with Inter Milan to join the Italian champions, according to his agent.

Barca have had an offer of about ?38m plus Eto'o, in exchange for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, accepted while Alexander Hleb will also join Inter on loan.

"The deal is sealed, next week he will start working with Inter," said the 28-year-old's agent Josep Maria Mesalles.

"When he signs the contract he will be at (coach) Jose Mourinho's disposal."

Reports suggest Eto'o has agreed a five-year deal with Inter and will earn about ?9.6 a season. It brings an end to his five-year stay at the Nou Camp.

"It's done," said Mesalles. "We have reached an agreement with Inter. Samuel talked to Mourinho and is very happy to be wearing the Nerazzurri shirt. All the details have been filed.

"It's complete harmony with us and the Nerazzurri club. We are very happy and satisfied. The deal's sealed, next week he will start working with Inter.

Benitez Contemptuously Upsets Ferguson And Allardyce By Ignoring Real Rules

Real Madrid?s Sporting Director Miguel Pardeza believes Liverpool?s attempts to extort close to ?32 million for their midfielder Xabi Alonso is nothing short of contempt. He admitted that Benitez has been an awkward ****er from day one.

Pardeza told Publico: ?The problem with Alonso is he's the best creative central midfielder in the world so obviously we demand that he be sold to us. We're the King of Spain's favourite team for ****s sake.?

?Alonso is not a fad, there are just not may alternatives - not in the Americas or in Europe are their players who can perform his task. Fabregas is ok, but he's a beady eyed whinging bitch, so he can **** off to Barca!?

He added: ?They were shitehawks from day one - the demands of Liverpool were beyond what Madrid was willing to pay, so they should shut the **** up and be happy with what we give them. Benitez just plucks figures out of the air. How the **** can a player we value at ?100 and a carton of Malboro lights be worth ?35 million? Seriously, Alonso's no ****ing Ryan Giggs like is he??

?Telling us what you want us to pay for your player is not the way to get things done, but I have not given up hope we can solve this. We tell you what we're prepared to pay and you say "Thank you uncle Perez." Then you go and get Nicky Butt on loan. Job ****ing done!"

?As I said, I do not believe Alonso will be an easy situation to solve until the King beheads a few of Benitez's family members until he agrees to sell. He's the King after all you know, and I don't mean Elvis ****ing Presley. I mean a proper King with a crown an a big sword."

A Liverpool spokesman said: ?Xabi is with us in Singapore because Rafa made us take him, and will train with the rest of the squad. We tried to smuggle him onto the easyjet to Torremolinos because it was about ?50 cheaper than the Ryanair to Madrid, but Rafa spotted us and insisted that we all put a twenty each in to get his Singapore ticket instead. Real Madrid are gonna be ****ing ****ed off, so if anyone is reading this, I'm sorry but it was all Rafa.?

?We didn't even pretend that he was injured ahead of the Thailand game. Rafa can say what he likes about that, but Xabi got a blister off his new Adidas Gazelles because he was breaking them in without socks on, swear to God.?

?And there has been no deal agreed with Real for his transfer because Rafa is an awkward c*nt.?

We asked Mr Ferguson for his view on the transfer saga of the summer and he said "Itsnay****infairlad! We had to sell them our best player so that fat Spanish ****** should have to do the same. When Alonso is gone they won't score against Blackburn, so Benitez won't be able to upset my old pal Sam any more with his ****ing hand nonsense. I'm phoning the FA when I've finished me bevvy." Mr Ferguson rang the FA three days later and informed them "Yerme****inbezzie!"

Manchester City's intent to force their way into England's Champions League qualification spots appears to be gathering credence, according to a new report in The Times.

The respected broadsheet intimates that - by the end of August - the club will have scooped Chelsea and England captain John Terry, Ivorian international Kolo Toure, and Everton defender Joleon Lescott, in a deal expected to exceed ?100 million.

Silva back in the rumours for United

1440 BST: Manchester United will launch a "new offensive" for Valencia star David Silva next week when the player returns from holiday.

Would definitely help fill Ronaldo's place.

Uh what, that statement really riles you guys up?

It's clearly just to try and get players cheaper, show a lack of interest, clubs might cool down over a few weeks on their stupid asking prices.

I'm glad Fergie isn't just doing a City because he got 80 million from Ronaldo and blowing 40/50 million on one player. It's ****ing ridiculous.

Peter Crouch is due to have a medical examination at Tottenham on Monday after agreement was finally reached with Portsmouth over a ?10 million transfer fee.

The England forward could also now join in time to depart with the rest of the Tottenham squad for pre-season games in China following a tense weekend of negotiations.

On Sunday morning Portsmouth manager Paul Hart was quoted saying that an offer had been accepted, though that was contradicted later in the day by Harry Redknapp. who said the fee was the stumbling block. However, with Sunderland having withdrawn their ?12 million offer, Portsmouth?s delicate financial predicament made a sale to Spurs almost inevitable.

Sulaiman al Fahim?s proposed takeover is still not complete, while Portsmouth face a looming deadline for bank loans. ?It?s common knowledge they need to sell him,? Redknapp said. ?He?s different ? he holds the ball up. He?s great on set-plays at both ends. I just want some balance.? Crouch will receive a ?70,000-a-week contract.

Redknapp is now likely to drop his interest in Real Madrid?s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar unless he receives acceptable offers for both Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signed a five-year contract with Barcelona ending a three-year spell with Inter Milan.

The ?40m deal also includes Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o, who moves in the other direction to the Italian champions.

Barcelona new boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic swept into the Camp Nou this evening and immediately proclaimed that playing for the Catalan giants can make him an even better player.

The protracted Samuel Eto?o plus cash deal has finally been completed, and the player was presented to the media this evening, with the Swede proudly displaying the number 9 jersey he will wear next season.

Ibrahimovic beamed as he exclaimed his joy at finally sealing his switch to the European Champions, adding that he can only improve by being surrounded by the talent on show.

?To play for Barcelona is a big honour. There are many big clubs but only one special club, and for me it is Barca," he said at his first press conference with the Catalan outfit.

?I have come here to become even better, to play with [Lionel] Messi, Xavi, [Andres] Iniesta, [Yaya] Toure, I know this whole team in my head ? it?s a fantastic team, I know I can become even better.?

The former Juventus star also stated that he has set himself the target of improving upon the 25-goal haul he managed for Inter in Serie A last season.

He added, ?Obviously I want to do better than last season. I scored 25 in the league, and was top scorer, so be sure that I want to beat that. But I will not cite a number; If you get that into your head you become desperate to score.

?I?m here to help my team-mates and they are here to help me.?

The 27-year old also made a simple guarantee for his time at the Camp Nou.

?I will promise a lot of success, a lot of joy, and for sure, good memories.?

Breaking News: Liverpool & Napoli Have Agreed Transfer Fee For Andrea Dossena

The Italian is heading back to his homeland for a reported fee of ?4.5 million...

---

It's official. Peter Crouch is now a Tottenham Hotspur player. According to Portsmouth's website, the lanky forward has moved to the London club for a fee estimated to be around ?9 million. It seems manager Harry Redknapp's search for a centre-forward is over.

That 9 mill is probably up front cash! Surely by now Pompey should have minimal debt.

As for that article saying the take over not being complete, well thats odd. I'm pretty sure the club has now changed hands, after all it was Al Fahim that made Paul Hart boss .... Gaydamak is still at the club, but I think as a board member.

As for Crouch going, I don't blame him as at the moment the club is just going down hill quicker than a roll of cheese.

Surely by now pompey debt should be very small, after all we must have made a **** load of cash selling quite big players and big prices.

Its even been said that Belhadji and Utaka could go. This takes the ****, our squad would be even smaller and means we'd have to use our youth side and a bunch of cheap players after we've given them trials. It's not going to be a good season for us. At least David Nuget scored a hatrick today.

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City have struck a ?15 million deal with Arsenal for Kolo Toure.

The Sky Blues had been chasing John Terry, but the England captain announced earlier this week that he would remain at Chelsea.

Thus, Mark Hughes has moved swiftly for Toure, whose place at Ashburton Grove has been in doubt ever since his well-documented spat with William Gallas last season.

The arrival of Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax has only raised further questions about the Ivorian stopper's long-term prospects in London, and now it seems a move to Eastlands is all but sealed.

It is understood that Toure has already agreed personal terms with City, and that he will earn in the vicinity of ?120,000 per week - twice what he has been raking in at the Emirates.

The Citizens, who are still chasing Everton's Joleon Lescott and West Ham United's Matthew Upson, are expected to officially present the 28-year-old later this week.
