antsy
I read that if I connect my PS2 to my TV using Component, or scart (rather than a scart with a composite adapter) I will get a "much" better picture, is this true? Coldgunner
Not sure about which is better betweeen scart and composite, but component is far better. Some games supported 1080i. antsy
On the PS2? I though scart splits the visuals into separate signals the same way component does? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/754178-ps2-scart/#findComment-590791926 Share on other sites
kazuyette
Here's the Order : component > scart > composite . I've never heard of any PS2 game supporting 1080i. I've only heard aboot some games supporting 480p or 576p, that's all. antsy
I didn't think the PS2 was nearly powerful nor had the ability to output HD, anyway apparently Scart doesn't support 480P like component but apparently supports 576i, but even so I should get a better picture? Coldgunner
576i is the PAL standard 576 lines interlaced at 25fps = PAL 480 lines interlaced at 30fps = NTSC Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/754178-ps2-scart/#findComment-590802354 Share on other sites
SiCKX
If you change from the default PS2 scart/composite that had a few pins (1) to a full RGB scart (2) there's a huge improvement. 1. 2. This is assuming you use a SDTV,on HDTV PS2 looks kinda like crap. antsy
I hope it is, I orderd one, Component would be hassle as I would have to do it through VGA. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/754178-ps2-scart/#findComment-590802626 Share on other sites
antsy
I was in the attic getting my old VHS player for my lady friend and I remember my PSX was up there and that I used a scart lead for that, so I thought I would give that a try, and wow this is much better, just had a quick game of Mortal Combat Deception, to think so soon after getting a PS3 my PS2 can have a new lease of life, but apparently SCART does not support Progressive scan so I only get 480i and not 480P. Anyway I still have that new cable coming in the post, that was a waste of money! Coldgunner
You need the component cable for progressive scan. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/754178-ps2-scart/#findComment-590810124 Share on other sites
antsy
Can I use a component to VGA cable for that as my TV monitor doesn't have component? Anyway as a video would have been helpful for me when I started this thread, I couldn't find one so now I have made one.
