Longhorn Transformation Pack

Recommended Posts

Yeah - Windows X has improved his transformation packs a lot.

And also wait until a few people has tried the Transf Pack - so you will have other people's opinions to lie on.

Well, seeing that I have a lot of free time on my hands, I decided to download "Windows X"'s Longhorn Transformation Pack. Although I'm still on my hiatus right now, however, I have an urgent problem that requires immediate attention.

The installation program keeps asking me for a password. Even though I typed in the correct password, I still can't get pass it. It will just open another tab in Firefox and go to the TechConnect web site, and then it displays weird errors. I still can't get to install it. I tried the TechConnect forums for help, but there was completely nothing. Can anyone help?

By the way, I'm changing my posting styles. This is a test of one of my new posting styles here. Also, I will be really back on Neowin next Thursday, when my long-awaited broadband internet connection gets hooked up (finally).

WindowsX, any news on a release date for the updated pack? Will it include the Royale theme and updated Slate 6 that you showed on another thread?

Windows X, in your signature... It says "Longhornish Customization in Windows XP/.NET sections".. Is that LTP 6 or is this some other program you are working on.. and if it is, where can I download it?

I know, I had just realized it 30seconds after I posted.

I can't wait for LH trans pack v7

I hope LH Trans pack 7 has an authentic Slate theme in it. All the other slate themes are never as good as the original slate theme in Longhorn. The only 'good' one is Windows X's old Slate theme. The one with 'Slate' and 'Mistic'.

Quick Reply

OK, Windows X, so here's my problem:

In screen 1, you see the first screen of the Longhorn Transformation Pack installation program, which requests a password. I typed in the password, and Firefox (my default web browser) will then open up a new tab, and then try to connect to the TechConnect web site. It will also display the error message, seen in screen 2. Press OK and then you see screen 3, and then it fails. Nothing else happens after that.

All I just want are the visual styles, wallpapers, icons, cursors, and screensavers inside the transformation pack. I want nothing else (and hassle and having to come back to Neowin to reply to urgent troubleshooting and support messages during my hiatus is definitely not what I want!)

I need some help here. Ther Longhorn Transformation Pack has just screwed up my Uxtheme.dll, and now I can't apply custom visual styles. It has also changed my Guest account picture, and I don't know where the default account pictures are located. I need my Uxtheme.dll and my old Guest account picture back!

Also, where are the default account pictures located? I remember seeing it somewhere, but I have forgotten the exact path.

OK, now how about the second problem?

Update: OK, I have found the files, but the old Guest account picture is gone!

Does anyone have it?

By the way, the default user account pictures are located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures, where C:\ is the drive where you installed Windows.

Attach your error here. I'll read and tell you what is it.

I got a message saying:

"Longhorn Transformation Pack has detected that there's any Windows NT setup file in

c:\windows\

It's not recommend you continue with this. Please eject your windows NT CD or move your setup files to another path. Press OK to exit patch."

It will not let me continue with the install. I'm running XP Home

Could I just move the files or is it really not reccommeded?

Rename C:\Windows\i386 folder to something else and rename it back when you're done with trans pack. This issue is solved in LTP7...

Windows X, got to thank you for all your work on this pack and the upcoming one. I cannot wait until it is released, any idea when it will be ready?

Good effort Windows X!
