There are rumors too that a new UI is coming!

What about the windows media center orb, you gonna complain about that too?

I just thought of something, shouldn't there be 3 sizes for the taskbar? Small, medium and large?

It has nothing to be compared with. It's a lone orb. Also you can manually make it bigger. No need for another option.

Sorry we don't agree on the same thing? are you gonna complain about everything i said i don't like about windows 7?

And to UncleSpellbinder : Uh no.

And for the last time, i'm not saying it should like like the programs pinned to the taskbar. Is it that hard to understand or what?

To be honest, I don't even see why any orbs are still in Windows? It's a very big inconsistency. Windows Live stopped using the orb, Office stopped using the orb; therefore, I think Windows and Windows Media Center could do without their orbs.

It really will help with the inconsistencies.

Good point, but even then, just a flag looks out of place.

May be theres no need for a flag anymore? I mean, the first flag looked like a window, with the thick black lines, then came the actual "flag" in XP. Vista saw the orb and the flag got some new gradents, but now is there really a reason to have a flag? Branding I know, but I mean, come on

The point is, its the start menu, so it should be separate from the applications, not blend in.

It doesn't "blend in". Its an ORB while the rest aren't. By the way, That image is DEFAULT. I made no changes. I was just trying to say there's no need to change anything.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The old taskbar wasn't broken now was it? If that was the idea everyone had we'd all be using windows 2000 right?

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a stupid thing when it comes to software.

Chill, I knew you didn't change anything. And read my post again, I said,

,

The orb is the start menu. Click the orb to open the menu

so it should be separate from the applications, not blend in.

meaning, it shouldn't just have the flag, as that would be blending in with the applications. The orb sepreates it all.

You still can go back to the old view if you like. it only takes a few mouse clicks.

The orb is the button that opens the Start Menu window.

The new taskbar is not broke, it's new. Different. That's what I was saying. I'm saying it works well as is. It works magnificently. We all have different opinions on it's appearance, which is fine. We all can't be made happy.

I never claimed the new taskbar was broke.

The orb is the button that opens the Start Menu window.

Its not a window though, its actually an extension of the task bar. (if you really look at it and think. Sure it doesn;t blend in with the taskbar, but rather look separate, but its still technally part of the taskbar)

or just call it a menu. but its not a window as theres no command bar, no close buttons, no breadcrumb bar etc.

The only problem with it is that it suffers from the same lack of color coordination as so many other parts of Windows. The big blue orb doesn't look that fabulous on a pink taskbar.

Perhaps make the orb transparent so what ever color you have on your taskbar, thats the color the orb will be? May be remove all color from the orb and just have it white

I didn't say you said it was broke. You said...

I was generalizing in my response. And I was (and am) only talking about the taskbar and orb. I never said anything about software or Digital TV's.

There'd still be an orb. Doesn't it seem strange that the operating system is called Windows and yet.....there are orbs all over the place? :s

My psychic abilities tell me someone's about to say "there are round windows"

What does a flag have to do with windows in the first place? I can see the old flag, but thats outdated.

After all, having it be transparent would be the right thing, since transparent will be like a "window", to see though, and to have a life with out walls
