There are rumors too that a new UI is coming!

would be nice imo, if theyll take advantage of one old longhorn concepts:

a nice photorealistic gui thats what i want...

mmmm love that one.

This was changed in Windows 7 because even more people complained about the lack of transparency when windows are maximized.

They can provide a simple option right bellow the "show transparency". "enable transparency when windows are maximized" It can be done, its just weather or not microsoft wants to do it.

first of all: I don't like vista, and I don't like W7 either ... i'm still using XP, but have tried almost all leaked W7 builds.

ok, ... so the reason why I don't like the Vista and W7 is:........ the UI... or let's say the look&feel w/ feature-loss

a new UI would be the greatest thing MS could do for me with W7

there have been so many (too many) changes from XP to Vista ....

for a lot of people that don't wanna use Vista, it's the UI that has become too confusing... (from my experiences)

why doesn't the recycle bin show me how much data it stores anymore??

at least I want an adjustable icon bar in Windows-Explorer back ...

If you don't like the glass, you can always turn it off. Aero is 10 times better then the ugly fisher price theme of XP.

Because its a major release. They can't keep the same things in there for ever.

Erm, explain. Ever since vista you have had a option to change your icon size in explorer by draging the slider. Thats a lot better then having to click each option to see what it will look like.

I'm sorry, but anyone who finds Vista or 7 confusing compared to XP probably has the attention span of a dead flea. The user experienced was dumbed down significantly compared to OS's prior to XP. The only thing that might be confusing is the way the odd thing is laid out or put in a different location. It takes a couple uses to get the hang of everything.

Who cares about the size of data in a recycle bin, it's meant for files you delete, not store for a rainy day.

Windows 7 fixed many of the issues people had in vista. But its still in development, so saying you hate an OS thats not even out yet is down right stupid. ITS A BETA! theres bound to be problems. thats normal.

I think the word UI was used to cause more hype than it should. Probably a new theme. I don't think its necessary for a start button to be there with many keyboards having windows key and it being easily accessed through Ctrl+Esc

Dobut it. If that was the case, it would have been gone a long time ago. May be not even come out in 95.

Perhaps we will get some Longhorn UI features with Windows 7. I think RC should be called Beta 2. It's no rush.

Are you saying this or are you just being a troll?

Like 3D Logo (Login Screen)

Now you are being a troll. there will not be any 3D logos on the log in screen. Unless your talking about the boot screen then, no, because its already there in the orb when you hover over it. (a bit to much, but its there)

I really do hope we see a new interface or at least a change to the orb, which I feel really lets down the interface. I'm not expecting anything radical but I think the Win7 orb actually looks worse than the Vista orb. If it's an improvement then it would really add to the momentum that's already building behind it and further distance itself from Vista (which I personally like but many others don't).

Also, I figure it's just a beta thing but for some reason every time I unplug my X360 controller I get a bluescreen. I booted back into Vista and doing the same worked fine so it doesn't appear to be a hardware fault.

theres just no way they would update the UI after all the tweaks they hav made over all the build so far! It would have made all previous UI work obsolete!

Yup.

We Didn't Start The Flame War

I don't use my Windows keys at all, they cause to much pain when your in game. :p

Mark my words, the start menu along with the orb is going to die, and it wont be around in the RC...

I did mark your words. Saved your post in my bookmarks so when RC comes out, I can re-post your comment in the soon-to-be-created RC Thread and "mark your words" as wrong.

i really dont understand the point why would microsoft introduce changes in the UI now in RTM branch.. i think windows team is working for a highly stable release. new UI now could create the inconsistency havoc which they would avoid at all cost...may be slightly tweaked AERO theme could come...

it wouldn't matter as most people will skin it with custom themes anyways. as a matter a fact ive already seen a few for 7.

I really don't think that is true. That was definitely the case with XP -- skinning was at its peak back in those days. However, for Vista, I always found myself coming back to the default vista theme. It is a very select group that actually skins their operating system. Most users will just stick with whatever default themes Microsoft gives them.
