Emohawk
Im still not going to post the d/l link to the network install till some mod says "okie/nokie"Better safe then banned/warned  ...but seriously... if you cant find a link on your own, I think you shouldn't be installing beta builds of service packs in the first place! I was getting them off some IRC channel that i cant find now. But i started installing since before 2055 i think.

+allan MVC Posted March 19, 2004 MVC Share Posted March 19, 2004 Quick question please - SP2 RC1 has been released by Microsoft to the public. Before I install it, do I use the same uxtheme.dll patch I've been using with SP1 or is there a different patch so I can use 3rd party themes? Thanks. EZRecovery
Does anybody know what the /execute addition after /fastdetect within boot.ini does as i haven't seent his before? Windows NT, 2000 and XP use a configuration file called BOOT.INI to control how the operating system is booted and any startup options. By modifying the startup switches you can manage the boot process including booting Windows in Safe mode, creating a log file, or disabling the splash screen. Make sure the McAfee Framework Service is running. McAfee Common Framework returned error 80070005 @ 2" Windows XP SP2 seems to break McAfee Enterprise 7.1's auto-update feature. Reporting that the Framework service isn't working. Here is how to fix it : 1. Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools 2. Open Component Services 3. Goto - Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config 4. Find and view properties of "FrameworkService" 5. Security Tab 6. Change "Lauch and Activation Permissions" option to the use default selection 7. Apply > OK 8. Fixed Hope this helps everyone with Auto-update problems Leebobs :D Edited March 20, 2004 by leebobs

EZRecovery
 Help....please.? I can't get SP2 v. 2082 to uninstall so that I can upgrade to RC1....any thoughts? Try installing 2082 again, then uninstall it. Whatever problem you have with 2082 should be resolved. I cant really help you cause I'm not a beta tester, but it should work for ya. btw: Welcome to Neowin :DD
IGx89
According to this thread (2nd page, 2nd post from bottom) at WinBeta, it IS possible to enable concurrent sessions in RC1! I haven't tested it out yet (I've heard that some people have had problems with RC1, and I don't have any "non-production" computers), but they say it works. Here's a couple quotes from the thread (you need to actually go to the thread for the complete instructions and the file): A digested, simplified procedure that WORKS on SP2.2082- Make the registry changes (Heathcliff's post at the beginning of the thread) Make the policy changes (AFeldman's number of sessions, etc) Copy the termsrv.dll from Tomilius' post on page 2 of the thread to someplace convenient Shut down. Boot to a Recovery Console/ or ERD Commander 2002/2003 (any Alternate OS with Disk writes will do) delete c:\windows\system32\dllcache\termsrv.dll Rename c:\windows\system32\termsrv.dll to "Termsrv.dll.2082" (or something else you can find later if you want to back out) copy the termsrv.dll (from #3 above) to the system32 directory Reboot into your XP and enjoy your mini-terminal server (note: each user session must be a different local user on the PC.) Yarno, don't worry about it - things have not changed in 2096 in regard to the Terminal Server (at least not that I have seen.) I was hoping Microsoft would loosen up and outright ALLOW us to have multiple sessions, or the two remote ones that 2000 would get for remote administration but no. Use the same procedure anyway: it works. Still a max of 3 active sessions though, remote or local. I've been considering searching through winlogon.exe for all instances of '3' with a hex editor that is.
