August 4th? Cool :)

I hope it?s not released then because there quite a few problems that really should be fixed before RTM especially with regards with DEP:no:o:

Hey all,

With RTM only days away... and RTW soon to follow. I'm going on holiday . So I have asked Cream to look after the SP2 Thread few its last (and probably most important) days/weeks.

Thanks to Cream and all of you who have helped make the thread what it is...

I'm going to bath in 34 Degree © Sunshine

Unfortunately I installed winxp with sr2 rc2 slipstreamed. Because of that I am unable to install the 2162 build. Is there a work around for this? Thanks.

IMPORTANT Please read the following:

?    Build 2162 will be visible on the WU v5 site only if the following conditions are met:

o    Windows XP is the operating system

o    A special registry key is set

?    Build 2162 may only be installed over non-slipstreamed installs of Windows XP SP2.

?    Build 2162 is only compatible with the following builds of Windows XP SP2:

    o    Windows XP RTM

    o    Windows XP SP1

    o    Windows XP SP2 RC1 build 2096

    o    Windows XP SP2 RC2 build 2149

?    If you are using an interim build of Windows XP SP2, you should re-image your hard drive with a compatible version of Windows XP. Returning to a system restore point is also supported.

So according to that, I belive there is no way to install 2162 over your slipstreamed copy. If it wasn't a slipstream copy of RC2 then you would have been able to install 2162 over RC2

Yea, I was hoping someone would have a work around by now. The lack of firewire support in rc2 is a pain. Thanks though. :)

5/8/2004: RTM (Release To Manufacturing)

10/8/2004: RTW (Release To Web), Web Release

25/8/2004: Windows Update Release

So we can expect leaked download of the RTM release by 5/8/2004. Cant we?

BTW, what are the differences between RTM and RTW? Will RTW contain more latest built files?

You British and your crazy dates. To us Americans, it would be like this:

8/5/2004: RTM (Release To Manufacturing)

8/10/2004: RTW (Release To Web), Web Release

8/25/2004: Windows Update Release

:p

Nearly everywhere in the world uses DAY/MONTH/YEAR apart from the Americans

I am neither American nor British. However, it seems like Americans are more crazy with Dates :D
