The problem isn't a new one though. Even on old 8xx chipsets you could have >3gb of ram installed and they didn't support 64 bit. :p

Check your BIOS settings, there might be an option called "memory remap" disable or enable it to see if it makes any difference.

Tried a new BIOS?

Chipset drivers won't change anything, they don't control how the O/S sees RAM.

ASUS P5B has a function as described above, Memory remap, If it's disabled, enable it as it will allow Vista and Windows 7 to see full memory capacity. Alot of people have this problem if you search google.

Thanx, I will check it out as soon as I get back to home :)

Check for a BIOS update as well.

It seems that a bunch of motherboard makers are going to have to finally get off their butts and release BIOS updates that properly support 64-bit, virtualization, etc. As I've pointed out in my other threads, my motherboard had an option for virtualization, shows it as enabled, I have a processor that supports it, yet I still can't get it working! Not only that, I also have weird issues with memory mapping overlapping PCI cards when I have 4GB installed.
