cammy
Hey guys, i searched the internet for a fix, and apparently this isnt windows 7 related, it happens in vista 64bit aswell. So far ive not found a fix and its really ****ing me off. The game basically wont start, when i open the game the screen is black for 10 seconds and then crashes. Ive tried running as admin, running it in 32 bit, running it in vista compatibility, turning vsync off in the nvidia control panel and all the other things people suggested. But why look elsewhere when i am a member of a forum with some of the greatest minds on the internet! so any help would be fantastico!
Minifig
Happens to me too.. Did you try Compatability mode?
CPressland
It kinda does, kinda doesn't for me. I noticed if I install the game as normal using my DVD and patch it to 1.2 the game crashes on start up, but applying a no-cd crack allows it to run perfectly. So logically it's a issue with the copy protection used in the game, something that Crytek will fix soon enough no doubt. Please note this only works for the 32-bit version of the game, the 64-bit still crashes on my machine, small price to pay I guess.
Chsoriano
My game runs fine, patched with 1.2 as well. I am having other types of problems though... but thats a completely new thread. I'm assuming you've tried reinstalling Crysis completely? And try forcing an update of directx. I've had it tell me that I was missing a dx10 .dll file when starting the game once and I forced an install (from MS's DirectX runtime website) and installed a couple of other games that installed DX10, Far Cry 2 and GTAIV. It worked fine after that.

testroom_9
Yep i'm in the same boat here - Crysis just stopps working as soon as its run on win 7 x64.. was working fine on win 7 x32 so i can only guess its something to do with the exe being 32 bit? who knows but there's no definitive solution on the net that i can find..... Brody McKee
I run Crysis and Crysis Warhead on both Windows Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64. No problems at all. What you should do is check your drivers. Make sure you have the latest official drivers. I use NVIDIA stuff and it all works fine. Either way, it's not the game, it's a problem with your setup. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted July 6, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 6, 2009 I think it's an issue with your video card drivers. Try using a different version.

ThisSiteHasLostItsCharm
I had the same problem, you need to use vista compatibility mode.
JonathanVP
I had the same issue. I used the no-cd crack then I went to the program files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe and dregged the exe to the desktop and ran it and it worked. FusionGuy
What are your GPU temps? Could be that your card is overheating and crashing.
testroom_9
i've given all the above a go - vista sp2, no cd, desktop shortcut etc plus loads of 'the usual' things but all i get is the standard windows error reporting box instantly after i open crysis.... its strange as warhead works fine... any other ideas? dafin0
very strange, iv got two computers one running win 7 build 7127 32bit and another running win 7 RTM 64bit (legal) and havnt had any problems with crysis or crysis war head. all i can say is make sure you have the latest drivers installed and game patches. the only problem iv had with crysis is it not going to full screen or not setting the right resolution. Shaun N.
Ive got a couple of games crashing on me mid game for no apparent reason atm, Aion and World of Warcraft. For some reason they just die and I'm suddenly at my desktop. I'm running Windows 7 64bit too. updated Graphics drivers last night but no help. I'm currently installed onto an SSD drive and im considering reinstalling on a normal HD and having my games installed on the SSD instead
FusionGuy
I've had Crysis crash on me a few times too but I think it was due to high temps. When Crysis crashes on my system I need to reboot. The strange thing is when it crashed to a blank screen I can't even reset or turn off my computer. I have to press the rest button (which doesn't do anything right away), wait a few seconds and then press the power button. Then it shuts down. Ravensky
I had this same issue and found the problem to be Nvidia's Network Manager. Uninstalled it and everything works fine. I also found that Crysis 32 runs a bit cleaner than Crysis 64, so I run it normally. Hope this helps. -Raven
testroom_9
hmm - well when it crashes it's literally instantly after you click the exe so cant be overheat or anything, no other games do it and graphics drivers are up to date - its an ATI 4870 x2 if that helps - intel core i7 i might try to uninstall again tonight and see how that goes but ive tried a few times.... i've heard about some kind of vm thing in 7 to run older software - is that worth a shot or wont it like graphics etc? running win7 eval 7100 at the min btw
Your Amish Daddy
So, you're wondering why you can't run a 64-bit program that's been installed into \Program Files (x86)\. Maybe it's because you're running a 64-bit program in a 32-bit emulator? Now there's a few of you saying you're using the executable out of bin32, which would work(and does) flawlessly. And for the person that said that it's a "hardware" issue, really do some research next time. Everyone is having a problem running Crysis in 64bit on Vista and Seven, due to it installing in the WOW64 emulated program files folder. While some software runs this way, it knows how to ELEVATE itself, like HL2. I am currently working on a way to fix this, but I doubt it's fixable. I've already tried installing the game to \Program Files\ which isn't WOW'd, and that didn't work. I don't have 8GB of memory to not use it on this game.
