Swift-R
I have just installed Windows 7 x64 RC and I noticed it is only reading 2.75GB of my 4GB of ram... How is this possible!?
Eric Veteran Posted May 17, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 17, 2009 Naughty motherboard? Can you post your system specs? It could be allocated to video if you're using integrated graphics or one of the ATI/nVidia cards that use shared system memory.
Thiefyo
it`s reading 4 ... if u cant see wheel put some glases.. it say`s only 2.75 is usable probably the rest it`s used by the sistem:)
hdood
Have you seen if there is an option in your BIOS to remap the memory addresses that clash with hardware like graphics cards? On some motherboards you have to turn it on to use all your RAM as part of the first 4GB is reserved for hardware.

And with x64, it should never tell you (xxx available). There is no 4GB limit, so system resources can be mapped at +4GB leaving all RAM usable. The only time x64 should show reserved memory if is something else is actually using it, like Intel's GMA video chipset or bargain editions of other video adapters. hdood
I have a P5B, and I had to enable it in the chipset configuration section, might be the same on the P5Q. It's just called "enable memory remapping feature" or something like that on the P5B.

jjrambo
I have same problem with laptop. Windows Vista x64 detects it fine, Windows 7 does not. I say it's a bug in Windows
