Yorel
Same here. I've found that these gmail notifiers are just that, notifiers. I've tried pretty much all of them and all that I've tried have a problem going to a specific email when clicked from within the notifier. Either don't go to the inbox or they want auto login. You're right, its name indicates it, this application is a Notifier, I misunderstood the specifications. fhpuqrgrpgvirzhpujbj
Alright seems like it's ok for me to start work on this then.Gonna look through this thread and try and fix some stuff. my first priority is generating the overlay icon in the code which should cut down the file size a good bit and allow any number of unread emails. As you're doing this, would you consider adding (possibly in a separate version for those who dislike useful functionality :pinch: ) the ability to quickly archive messages from the thumbnail view? Calum Veteran Posted January 3, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 3, 2010 omnicoder, would it be frowned upon if you gave me a copy of the code? I'm not too sure about the legalities of it, but I'd love to either have it link to my 'website converted to application' which I created, using Prism, or just add a web browser control to the app. I hate the fact it opens the inbox in new tabs in my web browser, rather than using it's own little window to display the inbox. fhpuqrgrpgvirzhpujbj
I can try and add an option to open with a custom file if you want. I don't have the code to give you, I'm working off of decompiled IL which is pretty tough to work with. And I'll try and add an archive button. callummr
Just realized - I don't know if gmail exposes a way to archive emails... hmm I'm fairly sure it does. This Chrome extension lets you archive emails at the click of a button without opening Gmail, might be of help. konieckropka
Hi. First - Gmail Notifier Plus - well. I love this program from very beggining.. I am using it since summer's beta and RC windows 7 versions came out ;) Anyway. I have one big request for a new feature. I know everybody is overjoyed and delighted with new Windows 7 Superbar (Taskbar). I am not. I still want to use old "Windows 98/XP" like taskbar: So I keep "never combine" and "use small icons" in taskbar preferences. I just hate new taskbar mode in Windows 7 (it is one of only few things are annoying for me). And here comes my request: As you see on image above: Gmail Notifier Plus takes LOTS of space. Wouldn't it be nice to change it? I wouldlike to have it without any title, just an Icon which is turned on. I know it is somehow possible becouse here are seveal programs that display only icon, without occupying so much space. An example is a program "On top" which is running on belov image. Another good feature for some (There could be some check box for user to select if he wants to have a title or just an icon on taskbar) would be to change Title "Gmail Notifier Plus" when there are some unread messages to "Gmail: 3 unread" or smthg ;-) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/777838-rel-gmail-notifier-plus-for-windows-7/page/29/#findComment-592079926 Share on other sites

Not trying to be rude, but this is the kind of thing I'm dealing with: Edited January 6, 2010 by omnicoder Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/777838-rel-gmail-notifier-plus-for-windows-7/page/29/#findComment-592080012 Share on other sites

stefan_v
Not being able to see the "inbox counter" while using "small icons" is a deal breaker to me :( Too bad - looks really nice, though - and a great alternative to Google Talk. blackholio
I don't have $1000 to spend on this :p Am I missing something? Why are you going straight to the IL instead of using Reflector to disassemble it? Eric Veteran Posted January 8, 2010 Veteran Share Posted January 8, 2010 Am I missing something? Why are you going straight to the IL instead of using Reflector to disassemble it? I was wondering that as well. I got 90% usable code with .NET Reflector and the File Disassembler plugin. It doesn't understand empty properties but they're easy to fix. It doesn't understand empty properties but they're easy to fix. Reflector's export function doesn't produce anywhere near compilable code and Reflexil's full code replace doesn't seem to be working for this assembly. The fact that they embedded all of Microsoft's 7 libraries is probably some of the problem. infinitey
This is a really great idea. I always preferred a notifier outside Firefox and this fits the bill somewhat. As someone mentioned before, it doesn't make a lot of sense for both "Compose mail" and "Go to your inbox" to only go to the Gmail login page. Since I have the cookie already, I can thereafter click on my Gmail bookmark but it's an extra step. I look forward to omnicoder and his release of an improved version. Thanks! :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/777838-rel-gmail-notifier-plus-for-windows-7/page/29/#findComment-592106220 Share on other sites

icout
Hello everybody. This is my first post and i'm in doubt concerning thus application, as described below. I've downloaded and installed Gmail Notifier Plusunder Windows 7. The results were the following: ==> It links correctly to Gmail mailbox and create email pages. ==> It don't checks for new emails nor shows existing unread emails; If I try to access manually, comes a system message informing that "Editor couldn't be recognized...". The application configurations were setted up correctly as so as Task Bar and Start Menu. I would like to have a help for these problems. Thanks in advance. tehmemories
A little FYI. There's a new announcement for GMail: Gmail now even more secure: HTTPS by defaultHTTPS encryption keeps your mail secure as it travels between your web browser and Gmail servers, so someone sharing your favorite coffee shop's public wifi can't maliciously read it. Banks and credit card companies use this same protocol to keep your online accounts safe. To protect your Gmail account, we've turned on the option to "always use HTTPS" for everyone. This added layer of security can make Gmail slower, so if you don't use unencrypted wireless connections, you can choose to disable this option in your account Settings. Even if you change this setting, Gmail will always encrypt the login page to protect your password. Night86
I'm using windows 7 and it seems to hang every time while windows desktop is loading or shortly there after. I copied the crash log from windows and pasted it into a text doc for you. Hope it helps, i would love for it to keep working for me. Also is it possible to get an archive and delete button? Sorry i haven't read the comments, kind of short on time. I've been meaning to upload this for weeks now. If you need i can give system details... all i can say is this happened on the RC1 and my pro edition.... wasn't using it when it crashed( in the sends not clicking on it, it just was idling in the background), pinned to my task bar. Thanks, Owen. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/777838-rel-gmail-notifier-plus-for-windows-7/page/29/#findComment-592130878 Share on other sites
Savage Alien
Yeah mine's been crashing too. I'm wondering if this could have something to do with the recent update to GMail? EDIT: To clearify.. it will continue attempt a connection to GMail, and will crash after a while or if I try to close it myself.
