chedderslam
I've been using this software for a few days and love. Starting to get errors with it though. Any help? Also, I'm now having trouble getting my monitor to come back on when it goes into standby. Monitor cycles off and on. ctrl-alt-del brings up the menu and I can get in that way. Related? See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at GmailNotifierPlus.Notifier.UpdateMailPreview() at GmailNotifierPlus.Notifier.webClient_DownloadDataCompleted(Object sender, DownloadDataCompletedEventArgs e) ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework64/v2.0.50727/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- Gmail Notifier Plus Assembly Version: 2.1.1.0 Win32 Version: 2.1.1.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Users/Matthew/Downloads/gmail%20notifier%20windows%207/GmailNotifierPlus-2.1.1/Gmail%20Notifier%20Plus.exe ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Runtime.Remoting Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Runtime.Remoting/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Runtime.Remoting.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Xml Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Xml/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Xml.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Web Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_64/System.Web/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Web.dll ---------------------------------------- WindowsBase Assembly Version: 3.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 3.0.6920.4902 built by: NetFXw7 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/WindowsBase/3.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35/WindowsBase.dll ---------------------------------------- PresentationCore Assembly Version: 3.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 3.0.6920.4902 built by: NetFXw7 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_64/PresentationCore/3.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35/PresentationCore.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Core Assembly Version: 3.5.0.0 Win32 Version: 3.5.30729.4926 built by: NetFXw7 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Core/3.5.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Core.dll ---------------------------------------- PresentationFramework Assembly Version: 3.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 3.0.6920.4902 built by: NetFXw7 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/PresentationFramework/3.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35/PresentationFramework.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Configuration Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Configuration/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Configuration.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Soap Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Soap/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Soap.dll ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. Reeve
I don't know if it's just me, or someone else is having the same issue. But the application does not log me in to any of my Gmail/Google Aps accounts at all. It just opens the login page and that's it. Yes, I am signed in with the application and it is checking for new emails and stuff. Ideas? Peit
Hi there, Thx for this great application. I'd like to make a suggestion of which i think will be very useful: making middle click on the icon open your inbox. Normally middle clicking opens a new instance, you could catch it to open up gmail. (I also would love it to not show up in alt-tab, but i see that has been addressed before..) Thx again. calmasy
I don't understand how to install this application. I downloaded the zip file (v2.1.1.0), extracted the application within it, and then double clicked on it. All it does is give a "Gmail Notifier Plus has stopped working" box. I'm running Windows 7 Processional 64-bit. Does this app not work on 64-bit operating systems? Author X
Oh, I must've missed that. It's because it used to sign you in to your inbox before, so I was like "Why isn't it doing it now?" Well, if that's the way it's going to be.. I do miss the old method where the Gmail Notifier signed you in. The FF Addon does that, but oh well.. As I understand it, Google changed the way it behaves, so that logging in automatically the way that the Gmail Notifier did stopped working. In fact, even if you were already signed in with the browser, attempting to log in again would redirect you to the login page. Daty2k1 tried to fix that, but eventually released a modified version that just assumes you're logged in, so that it will at least work in that case. I was also trying to help him, and it may be that you just can't use one application to log into another (GMail does a check to make sure that the application logging in requested the login page first). If that's the case, a Firefox extension could still be modified to work, since it's part of Firefox. I'm not 100% sure if that's how it works, so there may be some loophole somewhere, but in the meantime it's just not working. It sounds like your default browser is somehow set to Word. That's the only explanation I can think of. Try this. Go to your start menu, and select Default Programs on the right. Then "Associate a file type or protocol with a program." Finally, scroll down to HTTP and HTTPS (you can press H to skip down there, past all of the .* entries). It should tell you what program is set to open http and https links. If it's Word, hit the Change Program button to choose Internet Explorer. I don't understand how to install this application. HARKi
Updated with version 2.1.1: Feel free to report any bug you might encounter :) It's great!! Amazing. But i think that it can be improved. At home we are 3 users in Windows 7, with all three sessions open. And if we do this, the program crashs with the second session when you try to change the configuration. mumuku
Amazing Job! This neat little program is the best gmail Notifier out there (at least when using Win7). modplan
Great app! What about a semi-large yellow star or something on one corner of the gmail logo when we have new mail so that we can see if we have new mail from across the room if we are not sitting at our desk? I also second the automatic check for updates feature!
