Eric Veteran Posted June 1, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 1, 2009 Awesome Dude! I always wanted a POS A/V that couldnt pick up an actual threat better than my dog ! You know the EVID hack can be used to open more ports for a botnet or spam, too, right? TEX4S
You know the EVID hack can be used to open more ports for a botnet or spam, too, right? yah - I thought about just that after I posted -- but am too lazy to change it - Because I thought of all the idiots on piratebay and isohunt who complain about "My Norton (or AVG) says the keygen is a trojan !! " and I wanted to choke him and kick a kitten in the eyeball :D - I didnt want to confuse the issue - I knew if I mentioned that - my point would get muddled and I would be throwing another variable into the argument which would undoubtedly confuse the guy :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/778498-a-guide-to-torrenting/page/2/#findComment-591071008 Share on other sites

JonathanVP
Great guide! Ok, my wife bought a LinkSys wireless router (T-Mobile Hotspot@home) to work with her laptop (wireless) and connect the phone to. I also have the regular LInksys Router for regular ethernet connections (yes...two routers). To get good d/l speeds for torrents, do you have to port forward both routers? Do this mean I have to disconnect the wireless one, enable port forwarding on it, and connect it back again....and disconnect the regular ethernet Linksys router, enable port forwarding on it, and connect it too?? +BudMan MVC Posted June 2, 2009 MVC Share Posted June 2, 2009 "(yes...two routers)" Well there is your problem -- if your having issues with port forwarding, your most likely behind a double nat.. You have no need of 2 nat devices (routers). What you needed to add wireless to your network is a accesspoint.. You can turn any wireless router into a access point. http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_index....cess-point.html You then control the ports inbound to your network at your gateway router - or just let UPnP do it for you if you want.. But having 2 nat devices between you and the internet is going to cause issues with ports being open. Yes it is possible to forward the port to the wan port of the 2nd router, and then forward the traffic at the second router -- but it make more sense to remove the double nat.. Plus there can be other issues with double natting vs just port forwarding.
