ew2x4
Hey guys, a couple questions on my best buy warranty. First, do you just bring the console, or do I have to repackage it? If I bring in the console, do they give me a new (as in, not used/refurbished) console in return? I'd certainly hope so, but I want to make sure. Second, my problem is I once got the e74 error, but since then, I haven't gotten it. What I have gotten is a ton of color banding, loss of certain colors, and many lock ups. I assume they test it, but what happens if it never locks up or shows the color distortions? Call me a liar and boot me out? Last, I've heard so many mixed reports, but is their warranty a one time thing? Does it expire after the first use? Thanks in advance, guys. When my console red-ringed, I repackaged everything, but I saw other people in line just carrying the console and the cables (yes, I wasn't the only one waiting with a 360 that crapped out). I think you're good as long as you bring everything that came with the system. Yes you get a new system. They actually tell you to pick out a system from the store and bring it back to the counter. The guy didn't even test mine when I brought mine in, so you might get different results. The warranty is a one time thing. Once you make a claim, that's it. They'll try to sell you a new one when you bring yours in.

bangbang023 Veteran Posted June 15, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 15, 2009 Best Buy warranty has gotten me five new xbox systems over the time I've owned the console. If you use it within the first year, the Best Buy warranty won't expire. If you use it after the first year, then you will need a new warranty on the replacement console. Full disclosure: I work for Best Buy.
sn00pie
They do check serial #'s and I've seen a few people try to get buy with a X360 with a serial # that does not much the one on the receipt or even the box for that matter once. As long as you have everything it comes with, then there is usually no problem. The box is no big deal. And as bangbang said - if it is within the first year, your warranty is not void. After the first year, if you get a replacement, the warranty is over and you're eligible to buy another 3-year warranty.
