ultrasn0w will not unlock 3gs according to the dev team. It will unlock 2g and 3g regardless of baseband and bootloader versions. You have to jailbreak it with pwnagetool or redsn0w before you can use ultrasn0w. Iphones with yellowsn0w are not supposed to jailbreak with redsn0w as of now.

Actually MuscleNerd mentioned that unlocking should work for 3G S too since the modem firmware is the same as the 3G, but problem is that it can't be JB. So if it can't be JB then there is no way to do the payload for Ultrasn0w to work. Basically if no JB no unlock.
