John Freeman
Uh, hah. It appears that crashing was connected to steam. Atleast thats what i get from yesterdays steam update - "Fixed a Steamworks api crash that was affecting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2".
+Mystic MVC Posted January 23, 2010 MVC Share Posted January 23, 2010 My nat is open and I correctly forwarded all my ports for this game and it STILL doesn't work right. And the host selection is crap, everyone always has horrible ping and it selects the worst possible host. I NEVER get host even though I have a fast computer and fast cable internet, the only way I can get host is by using the trick to make iwnet make you host, and when I am host no one lags. Yet it still picks these terrible hosts for everyone all the time, its ridiculous. Oh the wonders of IWnet! Come on over to the 360! :p ViperAFK 1 Share
Cupcakes
is the patch out yet for consoles anyone ? You should follow @fourzerotwo to stay up-to-date with it. He usually posts when their patches are approved by Microsoft (or Sony.) Or even @stepto sometimes announces if the patch is live as well.
skyline11
<!--quoteo(post=592137650:date=Jan 21 2010, 13:58:name=Cupcakes)--><div class='quotetop'>Quote - (Cupcakes @ Jan 21 2010, 13:58) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=592137650"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Are you playing on PC, PS3, or 360?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Sounds like PC, where IWnet is completely f'd up. Hosts have been randomly crashing since the last patch so most games time out. And even before the crappy last patch iwnet has been horribly glitchy, with game lobbies randomly closing, not being able to join friends lobbies 70% of the time because it spits random nonsensical errors or just doesn't work. IWnet is seriously the glitchiest, most obviously untested piece of software I have ever used. I just find that they offer Xbox 360 (also PS3) version Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 only $45 bucks at amazon, it brings with it new weapons, action and options, and has single player, multiplayer and the co-op Special Ops Mode. Green_Eye
Yeah, most of the time he wasn't killing me himself, but I was so preoccupied with trying to get him that one of his teammates would swoop in for the kill. I need a good anti-shield strategy... 40-15? Damn, that's pretty impressive. I suppose Skidrow would be a good map for knifing though, since it's pretty much all close-quarters (apart from maybe one area). Yeah I did 42 - 21 on Skidrow the same way. Skidrow = best for close quarters :D

Ash_09
TheSandyRavage (insert random ironic wrestling name here ) showed what it takes to get rid of boosters , i've tried the same but everytime i get into a FFA game i can't find any nuke boosters , on a brighter note tho i just finally 1000/1000 this game ,not sure about anyone else but the last i had to do was Wardriving..that Spec Ops drove me insane :\
Chemaz
Getting really annoyed at the failed connections now. Either i can't connect to host, or the game starts loading up and gets to "awaiting connection...16" and then times out, and playing with friends is gettin more difficult, even if you add them to ur party, half the time we end up in different games. Also the other day me and my mate completed all of spec ops, though the next day my mates spec ops info got reset by steam so he had no stars :s seem the latest patches have really screwed things up These days all i play now is hardcore, i find the games a lot more balanced, though tks do get a bit annoyin at times lol
MikeChipshop Member Posted January 26, 2010 Member Share Posted January 26, 2010 Awesome video. There was two kids online yesterday who were openly planning there boosting over public chat and then couldn't figure out how i was beating them to their pre-planned spots... well duh lol
LingeringSoul
That video was hilarious. You know you're doing a good job when the booster sends you an angry voice message. ** Move away from the mic to breathe in. Classic!

That name just stands out and is pretty memorable (at least for me). On the subject of the video, I thought I was good at booster justice, well he just takes it to another level. Cupcakes
Any word on a patch that will fix lag and host selection for 360? There hasn't been any news from Robert about adding in lag/host issues for the latest patch. This is only what's been listed thus far: Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized. (including new infinite care package glitch) Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry. Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s. Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and ?elevators?. Mouse latency tweaks for more mouse movement consistency. (PC-ONLY) Fixes to prevent various texture hacks (PC-ONLY) Fix to prevent various XP hacks, including the prevention of obtaining negative XP. Hellacool
What exactly do you mean? What's wrong? If he is having the same problem as I it is the very bad host selection. For some reason what ever map I am playing, 80% of the time the host is crap to everyone. I swear the game picks the worse then the best. It is really getting to a point where it is no longer fun. The only way I have found to make it playable is to get into a party of 3 or more. Then it seems one of us will always be host. It was actually significantly better before any of the patches and most games were fine. Now theres always a **** host and everyone has like 3/10 bars. I KNOW I can host better than like 60% of the hosts it picks, but it keeps picking them :/
Cupcakes
Matchmaking is still bunk. It took 30 minutes last night to get into a game here and there. Either we were migrated into a room that was screwed up (evident by missing mic icons) or we'd constantly drop people (which has nothing to do with NAT so don't bother bringing it up as a suggestion.) The sad thing too is that host migration is absolutely useless. I've yet to see the success rate go beyond 20% for host migrating. The other 80% of the time is the server timing out and it taking every back the lobby with a loss.

That person's NAT shows open (even though its closed) and he can never get into games with us. Put your Xbox in your router/modem's DMZ.

That person's NAT shows open (even though its closed) and he can never get into games with us. Put your Xbox in your router/modem's DMZ. Sigh, there was no "discussion" other than me telling you again, that NAT is not an issue when we're all playing. The 9 of us that play together are not new to the concept of DMZ, UPNP, NAT or any other network terminology and/or setting in Tomato and DD-WRT. We all have open NAT (yes, it is open and I'm not just going by what MW2 says in lobby or what xbox results show after testing connection.) We are ALL able to play together but there are a lot of times when the party will drop. There is no specific person this happens to (outside of the individual I had spoke of previously, which yes, he had strict/mod NAT at times) that has a connection that's been perfected; For US it's not an issue with NAT but something to do on IW's end. Not sure why I have to keep repeating myself on the NAT issue. It's a moot point, so no need to keep referencing it.
