Steeley
If you like to backup your DVD collection to divx, I stumbled across a handy little guide that lets you import them into iTunes to play in FrontRow or on AppleTV. This is for Mac OSX users only. Basically the steps are:- 1. Download Perian from here. It adds a whole heap of codecs to Quicktime. 2. Create a folder called "AppleTV" in your Documents folder. 3. Download the empty movie file from here, and the AppleScript from here, and place them into the "AppleTV" folder. 4. Drag the file "AppleTV Fooler" into your Finder sidebar. This just makes it easier for converting movies in future. 5. Drag your divx file onto "Apple TV Fooler". It'll open Quicktime and start to convert. 6. Once conversion is complete you'll have a .Mov file and your divx file will be deleted. You'll also notice that there's a folder on your desktop. It can be deleted. Sometimes the script will throw an error but that won't affect anything. Just ignore it. 7. Drag the .Mov file into iTunes. Once in iTunes you can edit the name, director and artwork. I get my artwork from the Apple Trailers website by clicking on the movie image and copying the larger preview that comes up. But you can just as easily use Bing or whatever. And that's it!
