neudera
Get rid of those annoying add-ons on your right-click menus! ShellExView Website - Download ShellExView (32 bit) - - Download ShellExView (64 bit) Ever notice that certain companies like ATI, nVidia, Microsoft, and Adobe just love installing links in your context menus? Now you can do something about it. Just download from one of the above links, and follow these 3 simple steps. Step 1 Figure out which context menu items you want to remove. In this case, we will be removing the ATI Catalyst, Microsoft Groove, and Adobe Drive context entries. Step 2 Sort the view by "Type", and locate the entries called Context Menu, as seen in the picture. Right click on the ones you wish to disable, then click "Disable Selected Items". Remember, this process is reversible, you can re-enable them at any time. Now close the program and right click anywhere on the desktop. Step 3 And there you go, your original, clean context menu is back! (I know, step 3 really wasn't a step, sue me.) :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/824120-how-to-remove-items-from-the-context-menu/ Share on other sites
jnelsoninjax
Nice! Thanks! _dandy_
I can't speak for "Adobe Drive CS4" as I don't use it, but you can avoid the other two items in the screenshot given by doing a custom install and unselecting those components. Seriously, if you don't want crap on your system, don't just blindly click setup, next/next/next/finish without reading anything. The best way to avoid ending up with crap on your system is not to install it in the first place. I'm not saying this is the end-all, be-all solution, but when you can get rid of 2 out of the 3 items in the example given...it's not looking good. But I suppose there's always a market for the lazy. (Yes, cleaning up other people's messes has turned me into a cynic) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/824120-how-to-remove-items-from-the-context-menu/#findComment-591591750 Share on other sites

Then you, my friend, are part of the same crowd you're attacking. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/824120-how-to-remove-items-from-the-context-menu/#findComment-591592350 Share on other sites

Then you, my friend, are part of the same crowd you're attacking. :) What do GUIs or DOS have to do with any of what I said? By your reasoning, you should click Yes on anything that wants to download/install itself on your machine and click Allow on any UAC prompt, because that's easier than taking the time to read what you're being prompted for. I suppose I made a point that was a little far reaching, I admit. However I was simply trying to point out that just because something is easier doesn't mean it's the lazy route. Just like we created the GUI to be more efficient, it's more efficient to install a bunch of a programs and later disable all the unwanted add-ons all at once, instead of going through the entire install options of each program looking for the opt-out option for certain add-ons. Again, I apologize if I came off aggressive. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/824120-how-to-remove-items-from-the-context-menu/#findComment-591599756 Share on other sites
