brentaal
Found this on reddit and thought I'd share it here. (everything below this line has been copy-pasted) I just found out you can customize the clock applet quite a bit: open gconf-editor, go to /apps/panel/applets/clock_screen0/prefs, set the format key to "custom", then edit the custom_format key as you like. Two examples (I use the second one): custom_key value: <span rise="3000" font_desc="Sans 7.5" color="#606060" weight="normal">%a %d %b</span>%n<span font_desc="Sans 7.5" color="#606060" weight="bold">%I:%M %p</span> custom_key value: <span rise="1000" font_desc="Sans 7.5" color="#606060" weight="normal">%a %F</span>%n<span font_desc="Sans 7.5" color="#606060" weight="bold">%H:%M %z</span> You may have to enlarge the panel height of a couple of pixels (<25px looks like **** with this font) to have a decent result though. I really like it. Source: reddit Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/828778-changing-the-look-of-gnome-panels-clock/ Share on other sites

robz0rz
At the risk of connecting my reddit account to this nickname (you know how they figure out who you are through mystical ways sometimes): <span size="smaller" color="#999999">%a %d %b</span> <b>%H:%M <small>%S</small></b> This is what I've been using for the longest time. I think I got it of a blogpost from Hylke Bons Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/828778-changing-the-look-of-gnome-panels-clock/#findComment-591644564 Share on other sites
Rob2687
That's pretty cool. I tried using the seconds display but it doesn't actually refresh every second so you can't see the clock ticking. robz0rz
Be sure to also tick the option show_seconds then ? or right-click the clock applet, select preferences, and tick "Show seconds" there. Problem solved Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/828778-changing-the-look-of-gnome-panels-clock/#findComment-591714336 Share on other sites

Christopher Rodican
thanks. mine is a variant of the OSX one someone posted somewhere else, but different, made to look like a vintage digital clock: <span font_desc="Minisystem 21" color="green" weight="bold" > %a </span> <span font_desc="Minisystem 21" color="green" weight="bold" >%I:%M %p</span> requires the Minisystem font available here from FontCenter: http://www.fontcenter.com/fonts/minisystem.html they have a lot of nice fonts, i also recommend zero threes among others. if doesnt matter if you click on mac font or pc font, they both work fine in the font installer.
